Job Description Position Summary:
The Assistant Clinical Coordinator for the Veterinary Technology Program at Long Island University, alongside the Clinical Coordinator, is responsible for the planning, coordination, and evaluation of student clinical education in accordance with program goals and the standards of the American Veterinary Medical Association Committee on Veterinary Technician Education and Activities (CVTEA). The Assistant Clinical Coordinator will report to the Clinical Coordinator and Program Director, and work with the University, affiliated clinical sites, students, and faculty, to support high-quality experiential learning in diverse veterinary settings.
Key Responsibilities:
The Assistant Clinical Coordinator will work with the Clinical Coordinator to: Coordinate and manage student clinical placements across veterinary settings. Monitor student progress and ensure completion of required clinical competencies and skills. Develop and maintain relationships with affiliated clinical partners. Assist in developing new clinical partnerships to expand and diversify student learning opportunities. Evaluate clinical sites to ensure compliance with CVTEA standards. Conduct routine site visits to assess quality of clinical instruction and student experience. Provide training, resources, and ongoing communication to clinical site supervisors and preceptors. Coordinate student scheduling and troubleshoot placement or site-related issues.
Additional Responsibilities:
Collaborate with faculty to integrate clinical and didactic learning. Maintain accurate records of clinical hours, skills attainment, and site documentation. Assist with accreditation reporting, including self-study and annual documentation. Track and assess clinical outcomes and program effectiveness. Support student onboarding requirements (ex: vaccine records, training, etc.) Participate in program assessment activities, including analysis of clinical performance data and graduate outcomes. Ensure compliance with institutional policies, safety standards, and risk management requirements across all clinical placements.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in veterinary technology or a related field Credentialed Veterinary Technician (LVT, CVT, or RVT) in good standing preferred, or strong management skills in a related field Minimum of 3-5 years of clinical veterinary experience across practice areas. Prior experience in clinical instruction, supervision, or student mentorship strongly preferred. Knowledge of AAHA standards and OSHA regulations Strong organizational, communication, and relationship-building skills. Ability to manage multiple clinical partnerships and student placements effectively. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, OneDrive, Forms etc.) Ability to train on additional software platforms such as Exxat, Salthouse, CampusLabs, and Brightspace About LIU Post LIU Post campus is a scenic, historic, and scholarly campus that offers a small-school environment with the access and resources of a major metropolitan university.
