Position Summary The Assistant Director will work expeditiously and diligently on behalf of the institution while utilizing a data-informed and equity-focused approach to enhance student access, engagement, enrollment, and retention in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders. The successful candidate will assist in the development, implementation, coordination, and assessment of programs, services, events, and operational initiatives within assigned department(s) and/or area(s). The Assistant Director will support student success initiatives, provide administrative oversight, supervise assigned staff and activities, ensure compliance with applicable regulations and policies, and contribute to the effective and efficient operation of the College. Duties and Responsibilities The Assistant Director will: Assist with the development and implementation of student engagement and retention activities and/or services within assigned department(s) and/or area(s); Assist with the planning, coordination, and implementation of events, presentations, programs, and outreach initiatives, as assigned; Coordinate, supervise, and oversee assigned teams, intramural programs, and/or open gym events; Prepare, manage, and coordinate lodging and transportation arrangements for athletic teams, as assigned; Analyze data and operational information to recommend and implement decisions, improve services, and solve problems; Assist with the implementation and maintenance of internal controls, standard operating procedures, policies, and processes; Prepare and maintain required local, state, regional, and/or federal reports to ensure compliance within assigned area(s); Participate in the implementation, assessment, and evaluation of departmental policies, procedures, and operational practices; Identify and eliminate operational redundancies and collaborate with administrators across the College to improve efficiency and effectiveness; Develop, supervise, and direct staff, student workers, and/or assigned personnel; Participate in professional development activities and maintain current knowledge of laws, regulations, policies, procedures, and pending legislation relevant to assigned area(s); Safely operate College-owned vehicles to transport students to and from on-campus and off-campus events while ensuring compliance with all traffic laws and College transportation policies and procedures; Maintain vehicle cleanliness and ensure adherence to institutional vehicle use standards; Collaborate with campus departments and community stakeholders to support student success and promote balance between athletic and academic commitments; Demonstrate fiscal responsibility in the development, administration, and monitoring of departmental budgets; Analyze and review budgetary and financial data and authorize expenditures in accordance with established guidelines and limitations; Serve on College committees and participate in institutional initiatives, as assigned; Work effectively and collaboratively with diverse populations; Perform other duties as assigned.Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications The successful candidate will possess: A Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution; Experience implementing student engagement and retention initiatives; Experience coaching athletic teams; One (1) year of supervisory experience in a professional setting; Two (2) years of relevant experience in a post-secondary educational setting involving Athletics; Experience utilizing management systems and software commonly used in higher education and/or related functional areas, including but not limited to: Ellucian Banner PeopleSoft CourseDog DegreeWorks Visio Adobe Professional Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities The successful candidate will also demonstrate: Knowledge of current practices related to athletics, student engagement, and student retention; Knowledge of National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) handbook requirements, compliance policies, practices, and procedures; Knowledge of current athletic skills, techniques, and physical conditioning practices sufficient to support safe athletic participation; Familiarity with the mission, goals, and objectives of the College, as well as the demographics of the student body and workforce; Knowledge of the local community and College service area; Ability to maintain confidentiality and work independently; Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to identify issues, analyze data, and make recommendations; High level of emotional intelligence, professionalism, and energy; Excellent oral, written, presentation, interpersonal, and communication skills; Ability to interpret, apply, and explain rules, regulations, policies, and procedures; Ability to establish and maintain collaborative relationships with students, faculty, administration, and internal and external stakeholders; Ability to manage and adapt to change, make difficult decisions, facilitate conflict resolution, and ensure accountability within assigned departments and teams; Strong organizational, leadership, and management skills.Additional Information:
Preferred Qualifications Preference will be given to candidates who possess: A Master's degree in a related field; Experience working in a community college setting; Experience working in a unionized environment; Experience coaching at the NCAA and/or NJCAA level.Application Instructions:
