Assistant Director Of Fellowships

Williamstown, MA (Main Campus) The Williams College Fellowships Office is looking for an organized and dedicated Assistant Director of Fellowships to partner with the Director in managing our national and internal fellowship programs. This is a vital, multi-faceted role where you will oversee everything from primary student advising and managing candidacies to budget stewardship and essential administrative functions. Manages application processes, including soliciting, uploading, and submitting materials to national and internal review committees Establishes mentoring relationships with students, works effectively one-on-one and in groups with students of all backgrounds and identities Organizes workshops and informational sessions, in-person and online Works with campus offices and student groups to ensure equal access to opportunities Maintains strong working relationships with academic departments, individual faculty, and administrative offices, convenes committee meetings, selection interviews, and mock interview panels Maintains and updates website content and application materials Readily learns and implements new technologies and processes, supports daily functioning of the Fellowships Office Effectively represents Williams College in communications with foundations and government institutions, takes active role in profession through membership in theNational Association of Fellowships Advisors (NAFA)Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree plus at least three years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience Experience in US higher education, such as student advising, mentoring, or teaching Knowledge of national fellowships and their application processes Excellent written and oral communication skills Experience assessing application materials, such as transcripts, resumes, recommendations, and personal statements Excellent organizational skills, including ability to meet deadlines, simultaneously manage multiple projects, and respond effectively to the demands of a busy 2-person office Demonstrated success in collaborative work with faculty, students, and staff of all backgrounds, cultures, identities, and perspectives Ability to support students from underrepresented groups toward the College's mission of diversity, equity, and inclusion Impeccable discretion and judgment in handling sensitive and confidential informationPreferred Qualifications:
Master's degree or terminal degree Experience in undergraduate fellowships advising Publications demonstrating writing ability and experience Experience in editing and/or the teaching of writing Experience in interacting with foundations and government organizations A cover letter is required in order for your application to be considered. In select circumstances, hybrid on-site/remote work arrangements may be available for up to 1 day per week of remote work for employees based in MA, NY, CT, or VT, following a year of fully in-person work, due to the student-facing nature of this position. Application review will begin on May 14, 2026. Pay range is from $64,000 to $74,000, commensurate with experience.
