Position Summary Information Qualifications Required Bachelor's Degree in Business, Education, or similar field is required. Related experience working with students and families is desirable. General Summary The Assistant Director of Financial Aid oversees and manages financial aid administration for the Columbus Campus under the direction of the Area Director of Financial Aid Services. This role provides comprehensive advising and support to prospective, new, and current students, as well as their families, throughout the financial aid process. Key responsibilities include monitoring federal aid programs, administering federal policies, ensuring compliance with college, federal, and state financial aid regulations, and supervising Columbus work-study students. Success in this role requires a thorough understanding of financial aid policies, scholarships, eligibility criteria, and applicable federal and state regulations. Will perform duties and responsibilities in accordance with college policies and procedures.
Essential Functions Essential Functions 1. Implements, monitors, and revises financial aid office procedures in accordance with established college policies, ensuring accurate delivery of federal, state and institutional aid. Tracks student progress toward maximum allowable time frames, as well as program goals and enrollment status. Oversee federal, state, and institutional aid programs—including scholarships, FSEOG, NOG, Work-Study, student loan eligibility, and external funding—and monitor fund balances to prevent over awards.
Essential Functions 2. Ensures compliance with federal regulations by verifying the accuracy of student data, evaluating applications, calculating financial need, and awarding aid. Monitors the automated packaging process to ensure system rules are applied correctly and aligned with current regulatory requirements.
Essential Functions 3. Supervises assigned financial aid support staff and provides professional development opportunities and training for financial aid personnel.
Essential Functions 4. Advises students, prospective students, and families on financial aid options, application process, repayment obligations, and addresses special circumstances or appeals.
Essential Functions 5. Monitors Student Progress Notification System (SPNS) multiple times each semester to identify Title IV eligible students who have not begun coursework. Contacts students to encourage course participation and counsel them on consequences of failing to start or successfully complete their registered courses.
Essential Functions 6. Exercises professional judgment on a case-by-case basis for students and families with special circumstances and notifies students of the action taken. Coordinates appeal decisions with the financial aid team.
Essential Functions 7. Participates in developing financial aid policies, procedures and publications as a member of CCC's Financial Aid Team.
Essential Functions 8. Monitors academic standards of progress using the Ellucian/Colleague SAP module to track and update each semester's academic progress for all aid recipients. Reviews students' educational goals to ensure continued aid eligibility. Meets with at risk students to develop a Warning Success Plan or Academic Success Plan, based on term SAP process results.
Essential Functions 9. Coordinates placement of Federal Work Study students on the Columbus Campus, monitors award amounts, and collaborates with supervisors to ensure job requirements are met. Addresses performance concerns, including dismissal when responsibilities are not fulfilled. Provides orientation for new Work Study students, including training on the TimeClock Plus system.
Essential Functions 10. Facilitate scholarship administration, including the CCC scholarship platform application review, committee coordination, award allocation, and notifications to students, and high school counselors.
