Job Description

Funeral Director Assistant and Trainee We are seeking a gentle, caring, attentive, and mature person to provide support and assist our funeral director staff. We are seeking someone who also desires to potentially progress towards a licensed funeral director, with our assistance with training and education. We are offering a long term opportunity to train in our industry as an assistant and intern and then become a licensed funeral director if desired. Includes assisting with directing funeral services, responding when a passing occurs day and night, assisting in processing paperwork as needed, working with families we serve, helping with general tasks, receiving training for crematory operation, etc. Could be bi-lingual. Responsibilities:
  • Meet with families to discuss funeral arrangements and provide guidance on available options
  • Being available to be on call on a 24 hour rotation to respond on site when a passing occurs
  • Coordinate and oversee all aspects of funeral services, including scheduling, transportation, and preparation of the deceased
  • Assist families in selecting caskets, urns, and other funeral merchandise
  • Prepare obituary notices and coordinate with newspapers for publication
  • Arrange for clergy or other individuals to conduct funeral services
  • Provide grief counseling and bereavement support to families
  • Handle necessary paperwork, such as death certificates and permits
  • Manage funeral home operations, including staff supervision and facility maintenance
  • Ensure compliance with all legal requirements and regulations
