Assistant Garden Center Manager (Catawba Garden Center)

Starting pay rates listed below for entry level positions. Negotiable pay depending on experience. Barnes Nursery's Retail Division is looking for one smiling, driven individual who want to work full-time in our Garden Center! Room for advancement. Must have retail experience, preferably in Garden Center or Greenhouse work. Barnes Nursery, Inc . is a family owned and operated business that has continuously offered a comprehensive range of horticultural services for over 75 years! Requirements High School Diploma/GED or working towards one Two-Year experience in Retail Sales and/or Greenhouse Environment Availability to work weekends (Peak Season is mandatory, then rotating) Willingness to work outside in a variety of weather conditions and seasons Experience with Skid Steer/Front end Loader or willingness to learn Purpose of the Job Assist customers with purchasing plant material and plant related goods Assist customers in plant problem troubleshooting (willing to train) Providing top tier customer service Caring for plant material Unloading, restocking, checking-in and set-up of plant material and hard goods displays Managing the day-to-day operational procedures of the garden center Assisting with ordering product, communicating needs to Manager, or home location in Huron Essential Functions and Responsibilities (50%) Assisting customers in products, services and purchases (20%) Phone and POS cash register work (20%) Handling and processing of new merchandise and plant material (10%) Housekeeping of store and greenhouse areas Knowledge and Skills Customer Service and Sales Skills -required Operate Skid/Steer and Forklift - (willing to train) Knowledge of or willingness to learn Plant Care & Identification Management or Leadership Experience Please apply in person at any of our locations, request an application by responding to our post or visit www.barnesnursery.com to apply!
