- Mars Hill, North Carolina Full Time Salary Exempt Position Summary Dry Ridge Brewing LLC is seeking an energetic, hands-on Assistant General Manager to help launch and operate a startup brewpub and pizza-focused restaurant in Mars Hill, NC.
This role supports the General Manager in overseeing daily operations across the taproom, kitchen, food truck, customer service, and staff management functions. The ideal candidate thrives in fast-paced hospitality environments, leads by example, and is excited to help build systems, culture, and operational excellence from the ground up. Key Responsibilities Operations Management Assist in managing day-to-day restaurant, bar, and food truck operations Ensure exceptional guest experiences across all service areas Help develop and implement operational systems, opening/closing procedures, and workflow standards Monitor cleanliness, safety, and compliance with health department and ABC regulations Support inventory management, ordering, vendor coordination, and cost controls Maintain quality standards for food, beer, and customer service Team Leadership Assist with hiring, onboarding, training, scheduling, and supervising staff Foster a positive, accountable, and team-oriented work culture Coach employees on customer service, food safety, alcohol service, and operational procedures Help manage labor costs and staffing efficiency Step into leadership role during GM absences Customer Experience Resolve customer concerns professionally and efficiently Build relationships with regular guests and community members Support events, live music nights, beer releases, festivals, and promotional activities Help maintain a welcoming and energetic atmosphere Financial & Administrative Support Assist with daily cash handling, POS reconciliation, and shift reporting Support budgeting, labor analysis, and profitability initiatives Help ensure compliance with company policies and licensing requirements Startup & Growth Support Participate in launch planning, process development, and operational scaling Help establish systems and best practices as the business grows Contribute ideas for marketing, promotions, and operational improvements Qualifications 2+ years of restaurant, brewery, bar, or hospitality management experience preferred Experience supervising staff in high-volume environments Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills Ability to multitask and remain calm under pressure Knowledge of food safety and responsible alcohol service standards Experience with POS systems, scheduling software, and inventory systems preferred Craft beer knowledge and enthusiasm is a must Pizza kitchen or scratch kitchen experience is a plus Must be able to work nights, weekends, holidays, and special events Physical Requirements Ability to stand and walk for extended periods Ability to lift up to 50 pounds Comfortable working in fast-paced kitchen and bar environments Ability to assist with deliveries, setup, and cleaning when needed Compensation & Benefits Competitive salary based on experience Employee discounts on food and beverages Paid training and professional development opportunities Ideal Candidate Traits Entrepreneurial mindset with startup flexibility Strong work ethic and positive attitude Team-first leadership style Passion for hospitality, craft beer, and community engagement Ability to build systems while remaining hands-on operationally To Apply Please submit: Resume Brief cover letter or introduction Dry Ridge Brewing LLC is an equal opportunity employer committed to creating an inclusive and welcoming environment for employees and guests alike.
