Assistant Metallurgical Lab Technician

Akkodis is seeking an Assistant Metallurgical Lab Technician for a Contract job with a client in Garden City, NY . The ideal candidate must have hands?on mechanical aptitude and the ability to support metallurgical sample preparation processes while maintaining attention to detail in a lab environment.

Rate Range:

$30/hour to $35/hour ; The rate may be negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors. Assistant Metallurgical Lab Technician job responsibilities include: Prepare material samples for analysis using mechanical band saws and precision tabletop saws for sectioning. Mount alloy samples using epoxy or acrylic puck preparation methods. Perform grinding and polishing activities to prepare samples for microscopic examination. Operate and maintain basic lab tools and equipment used in metallurgical analysis. Support ongoing laboratory operations and assist Metallurgical Lab Technicians with sample preparation tasks.

Desired Qualifications:

High School Diploma required; Associate's degree in Physical Sciences (e.g., Chemistry, Materials Science, Physics) preferred. 0-2 years of experience in a laboratory, manufacturing, or technical support environment. Strong mechanical skills and ability to use hand tools. Ability to work in a fast?paced, team?oriented environment with attention to detail. Strong communication skills in English (Spanish is a plus). Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting up to 40 lbs, standing for extended periods (4-6 hours), and walking throughout the facility. Pay Details:
