Job Description
Position Summary:
The Assistant Pastor serves alongside the Senior Pastor and church leadership to shepherd the congregation, advance the mission of the church, and foster spiritual growth across generations. This role focuses on leading student ministry (middle and high school) and strengthening family discipleship, while also assisting in teaching, pastoral care, and leadership development. This position represents a calling to serve Christ and His church through faithful, relational, and gospel-centered ministry. Key Responsibilities•Youth Ministry LeadershipLead and oversee weekly student bible studies and activities (middle & high school)Teach biblical truth in engaging, age-appropriate waysDevelop discipleship pathways, events, and outreach opportunitiesBuild relationships with students and maintain a presence in local schoolsOversee curriculum, resources, and communication (including social media)Family DiscipleshipEquip and encourage parents as primary spiritual leadersStrengthen connections between families and church lifeSupport integration of new families into the churchPastoral MinistryAssist with pastoral care (hospital visits, counseling, funerals, prayer support)Preach and teach as assignedSupport Sunday services and discipleship ministriesLeadership & AdministrationRecruit, train, and care for volunteersBuild and lead healthy ministry teamsCollaborate with staff and participate in leadership meetingsAssist with ministry planning, budgeting, and church-wide initiativesQualificationsSpiritual & TheologicalMeets biblical qualifications (1 Timothy 3:1-7; Titus 1:5-9)Demonstrates a growing relationship with Jesus Christ and a clear call to ministryAffirms the Baptist Faith and Message 2000 and aligns with Southern Baptist theologyEducation & ExperienceAssociate's degree (minimum) in ministry or related field (preferred)Ordained or willing to pursue ordinationSkills & AttributesStrong teaching and communication skillsPassion for students and familiesProven ability to lead and develop teamsRelational, self-motivated, and adaptableDemonstrates integrity, humility, and sound judgmentLeadership StructureReports to the Senior PastorWorks alongside Elders, staff, and ministry leadersReceives mentorship and support for ongoing growthWill be supported by the assistance of a Youth CommitteePosition DetailsFull-TimeSalary and benefits determined by church leadership•This is not an exhaustive list.
