SUMMARY:
The job Assistant Principal was established to assist the Principal of a school in developing and implementing policies, programs, curriculum, activities, and budgets in a manner that promotes the educational development of each student and the professional development of each staff member.
RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES
Follow all rules, policies and procedures of Caswell County Schools, along with state and federal regulations pertaining to school issues Assist in planning, developing, coordinating and evaluating operations of the school. Conceptualize the broad goals and vision of the school and plan accordingly to ensure that procedures and schedules are implemented to carry out the total school program Assist with identifying annual objectives for the instructional, extra-curricular and athletic programs of the school. Involve faculty and others in the development of specific curricular objectives to meet the needs of the school program in alignment with state requirements Help maintain up-to-date student performance data to evaluate student progress in the instructional program. Supervise and appraise the performance of the school staff in accordance with state and local requirements Help maintain inter-school communications and seek assistance from Central Office staff to improve performance; maintain good relationships with student, staff and parents; comply with established lines of authority Assist with creating a collaborative work environment utilizing site-based management that promotes continuous improvement and emphasizes a sense of community Assist with the development of effective professional learning community aligned with the school improvement plan, focused on results Assist with supervision and conduct personnel administration duties for staff including hiring recommendations, evaluations, assigning special duties, & monitoring attendance Assist in
Record Keeping:
assists in completion of records and reports and in the supervision and inventory of necessary supplies, textbooks, equipment and materials Perform other duties and responsibilities as requested by the Principal
MINIMUM EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND REQUIREMENTS
Master's degree (Leadership/Administration) Valid NC Principal's license At least three-five (3-5) years of successful teaching and/or administrative experience
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing; ability to communicate with school personnel, students, parents, and community stakeholders Ability to provide leadership and supervise the planning, development and establishment of new, modified or improved programs, services and activities Demonstrate functional knowledge of computer and software programs, including Microsoft office products Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships as necessitated by work assignment Ability to perform in a fast-paced environment, interacting with various personalities and adapt when confronted with emergency situations Sensitive to cultural differences among individuals and groups of persons Knowledge of confidentiality requirements in local, state and federal laws and regulations
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, talk and listen. The employee is occasionally required to use hands to fingers, handle, or feel: reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds or more at times.
