SCHOOL JOB DESCRIPTION JOB PURPOSE STATEMENT/S
The job of "Assistant Principal- Middle School" is done for the purpose/s of supporting the Principal's and other assigned personnel's job responsibilities; receiving, distributing and communicating information to enforce District and state education policies; maintaining safety of school environment; coordinating assigned school site activities; assisting students to modify inappropriate behavior and develop successful interpersonal skills; and communicating information to staff, principal and public.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Assists principal and other personnel for the purpose of supporting their job functions as requested and maintaining quality of school program.
- Presents information on a variety of topics for the purpose of communicating information and gaining feedback on issues.
- Manages a variety of school administrative functions, e.g., student disciplinary policy, school schedule, assigned personnel, transportation, etc. for the purpose of enforcing school, District and state policy, maintaining safety and efficiency of school operations.
- Facilitates communication between personnel, students and/or parents for the purpose of evaluating situations, solving problems and/or resolving conflicts.
- Facilitates various meetings, e.g., curriculum, safety, site advisory, special District committees, staff development, etc. for the purpose of coordinating agenda and ensuring activities achieve school, District and/or state objectives.
- Intervenes in events of inappropriate behavior of students and/or parents for the purpose of assisting students in modifying inappropriate behavior, developing successful interpersonal skills and/or initiating disciplinary action.
- Prepares documentation for the purpose of providing written support and/or conveying information.
- Provide information to children and/or their parents about the Medi-Cal system and where and how to access applications.
- Inform children and/or their parents about medical services available through school or in the local community.
- Refer children to medical services covered by Medi-Cal. (Part of SST process)
- Provide health related information to children and/or their parents.
- Identify at risk children and families and refer them to the proper agencies for services.
- Develop, implement and monitor health related programs or systems for children and their families.
- Participate on committees whose focus is to expand services, identify needs, or increase service utilization for health services to children.
- Develop and maintain health resource directories.
- Attend MAA Time Survey and ongoing MAA program policy/procedures meetings.
- Other duties as assigned.

Experience Required:
Prior job related experience with increasing levels of responsibilities in school setting.SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND/OR ABILITIES REQUIRED
Skills:
Able to appropriately manage personnel and programs, effective interpersonal and communication techniques. Knowledge of curriculum, education code, district policies. Abilities to sit for prolonged periods of time, provide direction to others and make independent judgments based on common sense; keep and maintain accurate records; meet deadlines; communicate with individuals of varied cultural and educational backgrounds; communicate in oral and written form. Significant physical abilities include reaching/handling/ fingering, talking/hearing conversations and other sounds, near and far visual acuity/depth perception/visual accommodation.LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, BONDING AND/OR TESTING REQUIRED
Appropriate Administrative Services Credential, valid driver's license and evidence of insurability, TB Test clearance, Criminal Justice Fingerprint clearance. Requirements /Qualifications Requirements:
Valid California Administrative Services Credential. Valid California Teaching Credential withEnglish Learner Authorization Preferred Experience:
A minimum of four years of teaching at the K-8 level and two years of leadership/administrative experience preferred. Please provide the following required documents: Letter of Introduction Resume Three letters of reference (within 3 years) Copies of credentials and transcripts (unofficial OK) Requirements /Qualifications Requirements:
