Immediately Job Description The High School Assistant Principal supports the principal in the overall administration of the school, focusing on student discipline, academic achievement, teacher support, school operations, and community engagement. This role requires strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills to foster a positive and effective learning environment.
Key Responsibilities:
1.
Instructional Leadership & Curriculum Support:
  • Assist in implementing and monitoring curriculum standards and instructional programs.
  • Support teachers with instructional strategies, professional development, and classroom management.
  • Analyze student performance data to identify areas for improvement and implement intervention strategies.
2.
Student Discipline & Behavior Management:
  • Enforce school policies and procedures related to student behavior and discipline.
  • Investigate disciplinary issues, meet with students and parents, and determine appropriate consequences.
  • Promote a positive school culture through behavior management programs and restorative practices.
3.
Staff Supervision & Development:
  • Assist in evaluating teachers and staff to ensure instructional excellence.
  • Provide mentorship and professional development opportunities for faculty.
  • Participate in the recruitment, hiring, and retention of high-quality staff.
4.
School Operations & Safety:
  • Oversee daily school operations, including scheduling, transportation, and facilities management.
  • Assist in developing and enforcing emergency preparedness and crisis response plans.
  • Ensure compliance with state and district policies regarding school safety and student well-being.
5.
Parent & Community Engagement:
  • Maintain open communication with parents and guardians regarding student progress and school initiatives.
  • Foster relationships with community organizations, businesses, and stakeholders to support school programs.
  • Represent the school at district meetings and community events.
6.
Additional Duties:
  • Assist the principal with budget planning and resource allocation.
  • Support extracurricular activities, including athletics and student clubs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the principal or district administration.
Qualifications & Requirements:
Education & Certification:
  • Master's degree in Educational Leadership, Administration, or a related field.
  • Valid Virginia Administrator License or eligibility for licensure.
Experience:
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of successful teaching experience (high school level preferred).
  • Previous administrative or leadership experience preferred.
Skills & Competencies:
  • Strong leadership, decision-making, and conflict-resolution skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Proficiency in educational technology and student management systems.
  • Commitment to fostering diversity, equity, and inclusion in the school community.
Work Environment & Schedule:
  • Full-time, 12-month administrative position.
  • Some evening and weekend responsibilities (meetings, events, etc.
).
