Job Description

Job Summary
The Assistant Production Manager is responsible for coordinating daily production schedules within the door manufacturing plant to ensure efficient operations and the timely delivery of high-quality products. This role supports cross-functional teams in achieving production goals and plays a key part in maintaining workflow, improving processes, and ensuring operational excellence.
This position assists in developing departmental goals and strategies related to safety, quality, and productivity. The Assistant Production Manager monitors plant performance throughout the day, communicates updates to the Production Manager, and uses data to drive continuous improvement. Strong organizational, multitasking, and communication skills are essential, along with in-depth knowledge of production processes and materials.
All products are made-to-order and require precision, craftsmanship, and the ability to work effectively with both pneumatic tools and automated equipment.
Key Responsibilities
Coordinate and manage daily production schedules to meet output and delivery targets
Adjust workflows and processes to align with production demands
Monitor plant activity and communicate status updates to the Production Manager
Collaborate with supervisors and team leaders to meet production objectives
Maintain accurate time and production records
Ensure quality standards are consistently met across all production lines
Lead and support continuous improvement initiatives using production data
Assist in developing and executing departmental goals related to safety, quality, and efficiency
Promote and enforce a strong safety culture, including participation in incident investigations and hazard assessments
Support employee relations processes and ensure consistent application of policies across teams
Assist with order scheduling, routing, and issue resolution across departments
Coordinate with logistics, purchasing, sales, and external vendors to support production needs
Oversee shipping activities, including UPS/FedEx tracking and delivery coordination
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
Lead by example in EHS, quality, productivity, attendance, and housekeeping
Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications & Skills
Minimum of 5 years of manufacturing experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Strong knowledge of production processes and materials
Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
Excellent organizational, planning, and multitasking skills
Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities
Effective verbal and written communication skills
Ability to collaborate and build relationships across all levels of the organization
High attention to detail and accuracy
Basic math skills and familiarity with standard units of measurement
High school diploma or GED preferred

Physical Requirements
Ability to stand and walk for extended periods (up to 12-hour shifts)
Lift up to 45 lbs. occasionally and perform pushing/pulling as needed
Frequent bending, reaching, kneeling, and repetitive motion
Use of required PPE, including safety glasses, hearing protection, and steel-toe footwear
Requires close, distance, and peripheral vision, along with depth perception
Additional Requirements
Must be at least 18 years of age
Must pass pre-employment drug screening and required assessments
Ability to maintain consistent attendance and work extended hours as needed
Commitment to maintaining a safe, respectful, and harassment-free workplace
