Justin Dodd Job Summary/Basic Functions The Construction Management Program in the School of Safety, Security, & Emergency Management at Eastern Kentucky University seeks applicants for a tenure track position in Construction Management at the rank of Assistant Professor for Academic Year 2026-2027. Applicants should hold an earned Ph.D. in Construction Management, Civil Engineering or related field from an accredited institution at the time of appointment. ABD applicants may be considered with evidence of a scheduled doctoral defense that occurs no later than May prior to a Fall appointment. Applicants with a Master of Science, PE Licensure, and a minimum of five years of experience in the construction field will also be considered. The position begins August 2026. The position serves the construction management program. Preference will be given to candidates with construction and/or research experience related to BIM or AI use in the construction industry. It requires at least 3 years of progressive professional experience in the construction field. The successful candidate will teach undergraduate courses in construction management in a faculty workload consistent with the needs and priorities of the college and institution. Courses may include Estimating, Scheduling, Horizontal Construction, and MEP Systems. The successful candidate will also develop and maintain an active scholarly agenda, conduct academic advising, and participate in service to the department, university, and community. In addition, membership and participation in state, regional, national, or international professional organizations is recommended. The University places a high priority on being leaders in the responsible use of artificial intelligence and in building such capacity in our students. The successful candidate will demonstrate knowledge of artificial intelligence pertinent to the discipline and/or a willingness to pursue professional development to acquire such expertise.
Minimum Qualifications Education:
A PhD in Construction Management/Civil Engineering or a related field from a regionally accredited institution is recommended for appointment. Candidates with a Master of Science Degree in Civil, Structural, Geotechnical, or Construction Engineering with a minimum of 5 years of P.E. licensure and experience in the field of construction management will also be considered.
