Assistant Professor, Nursing Salary $50,509.00 - $56,823.00 Annually Location 940 Second St. Portsmouth, OH 45662, OH Job Type Full-Time Job Number POS-819 Division Academic and Student Affairs Department ASA-College of Health & Human Services Opening Date 03/26/2026 Closing Date Continuous Description Benefits Job Description Summary The School of Nursing at Shawnee State University invites applications to fill one tenure-track Full-time Faculty position for the Nursing program to begin in August 2026. The Department seeks a faculty member with a commitment to the mission and goals of the University, the College and the School of Nursing. The successful candidate's primary responsibilities include teaching undergraduate courses in the Nursing program but not limited to; didactic instruction in both the traditional and online formats, clinical instruction and supervision of nursing students assigned to affiliate hospitals in Ohio and Kentucky; demonstrate proficiency with internet-based technologies and online pedagogies; utilize internet-based tools to enhance classroom/clinical learning and interact with students; advise undergraduate students; serve on school, college or university committees; engage in professional development/scholarly activities; represent the University in community service activities/events; and engage with students in out-of-classroom co-curricular activities. Candidates must have a strong commitment to undergraduate education with the ability and willingness to teach online courses. The candidate may also have teaching responsibilities in a future graduate nursing program. Minimum Qualifications Master of Science Nursing and three (3) years of full-time teaching experience at a regionally accredited institution, or five (5) years of professional experience in nursing may also be considered Valid unencumbered licensure in Ohio is required and multi-state compact Ohio licensure is strongly preferred. Related professional experience in Nursing; and Successful teaching experience both in classroom and clinical settings in an associate degree and/or baccalaureate nursing program and nursing clinical expertise.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Doctorate in Nursing or related field and three (3) years of full-time teaching experience at a regionally accredited institution or five (5) years of professional experience in nursing. If the doctorate is not in nursing, the individual must hold a master of science degree in nursing from a regionally accredited institution Nursing Leadership/Management experience.
