Job Description

River Creek Farms is a fifth generation seedstock operation located 10 miles east of Kansas State University. The area communities of Manhattan and Wamego offer quality schools, churches, shopping, and entertainment. The operation manages 1000+ cow/calf pairs and markets 250 registered Simmental, SimAngus, and Angus bulls annually through two production sales each November and February. We are seeking an individual who wants to grow with a high performing program and help maximize the potential of a progressive purebred and commercial focused cattle enterprise.   • Perform routine herd health procedures. Diagnose and treat routine health problems. Work with veterinarians on more serious problems and routine herd testing. Keep all related health records. Feeding
  • Routine feeding of grain, forages, and supplements Calving
  • routine observation and assistance, calf processing, managing related records Breeding
  • heat detection, A.I., donor preparation, recipient preparation, related records Data collection
  • collect various weights, measurements, and DNA samples related to cattle evaluation. Assist with the conservation of native pasture
  • with managed rotational grazing system, grassland, and fence maintenance Comply with facility and feedlot maintenance requirements Assist with other farm-related activities, especially during the fall harvest
Qualification Requirements:
BS degree. Preferably in Animal Science, Ag Economics, Ag Business (or related field) Valid driver's license and ability to obtain CDL 3+ Years of cattle management skills (nutrition, calving, herd health, AI) Knowledge of the purebred cattle industry (Pedigrees, EPDs, performance testing) Experience operating small and large machinery Computer Skills (Excel, Data Entry, Email)
