East Stroudsburg, PENNSYLVANIA As the Assistant Softball Coach, you will need to think creatively and be comfortable supporting all aspects of the NCAA Division II Softball program. You will be an active member of the Athletics team and will work closely with the Head Coach to develop strategic plans to optimize the programs' training, recruiting, and community impact. You will thrive in this role if you like combining your previous professional coaching experience with knowledge of NCAA Division II and PSAC compliance all while demonstrating exemplary leadership to student athletes through evidence-based practices centered around their growth to succeed both on the field and academically. To be successful in this role, the coach must effectively lead and develop student athletes, ensure strict compliance with governing rule and institutional policies, along with effectively managing the recruiting, budgeting and fundraising activities that support a competitive and sustainable program. This is a full time 1.0 FTE position, the hours will be based on the season schedule. Evening, weekend, and travel are mandatory as required for this position due to the nature of the role to be a true Assistant Softball Coach. The use of outdoor or open-air facilities may require exposure to the elements. When our team shows up for work, they are energized and motivated to succeed - all while being the most crucial piece to keeping the ESU operations humming. What Will I Do At ESU? (AKA Essential Duties) Assisting the Head Softball Coach with providing on-site supervision during all practices, scrimmages, games, and events related to the softball program Adhering to all University and departmental policies and procedures for athletics finances. Assisting the Head Softball Coach with fund-raising to enhance the softball grant-in-aid budget and compliance with University and departmental policies for all fund-raising activities. Exhibiting a high level of expertise in his/her sport and seeking self-improvement by attending professional development programs. Responsibility for assisting the Head Softball Coach in the execution and completion of the necessary forms and other related administrative work. Assisting the Head Softball Coach in recruiting qualified student-athletes to attend East Stroudsburg University in accordance with NCAA, PSAC, and University policies and procedures; Assisting the Head Softball Coach with team supervision when using residence halls during pre-season training camps and non-session breaks. What We're Looking For (AKA Qualifications) A Bachelor's Degree is required, Master's Degree is preferred. A thorough knowledge of and commitment to compliance with the rules, regulations, policies, and procedures of the NCAA, PSAC, and other applicable affiliations is required. Successful experience in coaching softball is required; successful softball coaching experience on the collegiate level is preferred; or a n equivalent combination of experience and training that may include successful professional, high school, or club coaching experience. Ability to demonstrate and teach current softball skills and techniques required of softball student-athletes; and Capability of travel for the purpose of recruiting student-athletes and team competition. Ability to develop and communicate strategy under the pressures of competition. Consistent with the season and conditions under which the student-athlete is recruited and the sport is conducted, practiced or played. Able to read, write, and comprehend English; able to follow verbal instructions. Experience with Word, Excel, Teams required.
