Job Description

The Assistant Store Manager is a critical leadership role responsible for supporting the Store Manager in daily store operations, staff management, and ensuring a positive customer experience. This role is designed as a developmental position to prepare high-potential candidates for a future Store Manager position. The Assistant Store Manager will gain hands-on experience in all aspects of store management, including customer service, inventory control, financial operations, and team leadership. By excelling in this role, the Assistant Store Manager will be positioned for future advancement within the company.
Key Responsibilities:
Operational Support Assist the Store Manager in overseeing daily store operations, ensuring all policies and procedures are followed consistently. Ensure the store maintains company standards in areas of cleanliness, organization, and visual presentation. Open and close the store as needed, following proper protocols to ensure security and readiness for the next business day. Customer Service Support the Store Manager in driving a customer-focused culture, ensuring customers receive exceptional service. Resolve customer issues promptly and professionally, escalating to the Store Manager when necessary. Train and coach team members on customer service best practices, ensuring all staff members are committed to a positive customer experience. Team Leadership & Development Assist in training, supervising, and motivating store team members, including providing ongoing coaching and performance feedback. Help with staff scheduling to ensure adequate coverage while managing labor costs. Serve as a role model for store employees, promoting teamwork, a strong work ethic, and adherence to company values. Inventory Management Monitor and maintain inventory levels, coordinating with the Store Manager to reorder stock as needed. Conduct inventory counts and audits to ensure accuracy and identify potential shrinkage issues. Help execute loss prevention measures, reinforcing best practices for inventory control and minimizing shrinkage. Sales & Financial Accountability Assist in tracking store sales, expenses, and profitability, working with the Store Manager to achieve financial goals. Conduct cash handling duties, including deposits, till management, and reconciliations in accordance with company policies. Analyze sales reports and help the Store Manager identify opportunities to increase sales and drive performance. Training & Development Participate in ongoing training and development programs to enhance leadership skills and prepare for future advancement. Support the Store Manager in training new hires and developing current team members to meet performance standards. Actively seek feedback from the Store Manager and other leaders, demonstrating a commitment to personal growth and readiness for the next role. Compliance & Safety Ensure that all team members comply with health, safety, and company policies, fostering a safe and compliant environment for customers and employees. Conduct regular store safety checks, ensuring that safety protocols are in place and followed. Assist with audits and inspections to ensure compliance with local regulations and company standards.
Qualifications:
Experience:
Minimum of 2 to 3 years in retail or customer service management, preferably with experience supervising or training team members.
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree or retail management certification preferred.
Skills:
Strong leadership and communication skills, with a customer-first mindset. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks simultaneously. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and retail point-of-sale (POS) systems. Problem-solving skills, with the ability to handle customer and employee concerns effectively. Willingness to learn and develop new skills to advance within the company.
