Job Description

Assistant STUNT Coach Thiel College seeks an Assistant STUNT Coach. This position reports to the Head Cheer & Dance Coach and the Director of Athletics. The selected candidate will assist with the organization and supervision of the STUNT program while helping develop student-athletes both on and off the field. Primary responsibilities will include serving as a primary day-to-day support role for the STUNT Program. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Establish and maintain positive relationships within the athletics department, College community, alumni, boosters, recruits, and supporters Represent Thiel College and its athletic programs in a professional and positive manner Support the mission and values of the College and Athletic Department Commit to adhering to all rules and regulations established by the College, athletic department, USA Cheer, and governing bodies associated with collegiate STUNT Required Qualifications Bachelor's Degree preferred Previous experience in cheerleading and/or STUNT as an athlete or coach Strong knowledge of collegiate STUNT rules, scoring structure, and competition format Ability to teach and safely progress advanced stunts, pyramids, basket tosses, and tumbling skills Experience spotting and coaching coed and all-girl partner stunting Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills Ability to work evenings, weekends, and travel as required Preferred Qualifications Collegiate STUNT participation and/or coaching experience Strong understanding of USA Cheer safety standards and collegiate STUNT regulations Experience teaching elite-level stunt sequences, inversions, transitions, and tosses Ability to clean routines with attention to timing, synchronization, body positions, and execution quality Experience reviewing film and evaluating athlete performance Recruiting experience and ability to identify collegiate-level talent
Performance Expectations:
Assistant Coaches are expected to work collaboratively with their head coach in meeting established performance standards that support the mission and sustainability of Thiel College Athletics. These expectations include achieving assigned recruiting and roster targets; maintaining retention benchmarks; fostering a positive student-athlete experience; demonstrating competitive progress appropriate to program tenure; engaging alumni, parents, community partners, and supporters; contributing to program and departmental fundraising initiatives; and supporting community engagement efforts. In addition, Assistant Coaches are responsible to follow and actively support the head coach's established annual program calendar that outlines recruiting activities, fundraising initiatives, alumni engagement events, and academic monitoring strategies during the fall and spring semesters to support student-athlete retention and success. The College evaluates performance using a comprehensive, holistic approach and is committed to supporting growth. When reasonable progress is not evident, next steps may include a performance improvement plan or probation, and, when appropriate, non-renewal of employment appointment, in accordance with College policies.
