ROLE OBJECTIVE
This position is responsible for the day to day operations of Stock Prep. This will include the training and supervision of staff, maintenance of facility, housekeeping, safety and all regulatory compliance of the building, grounds and facility.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Duties Include But Not Limited to: Support and maintain the plant's safety procedures and goals. Work with West Rock Safety Manager to ensure all onsite contractors have completed the safety evaluations prior to performing any onsite activities. Promote safety compliance within the maintenance and operations teams. Support the Pulp Mill including supervision and training of all operators. Assist Maintenance Superintendent and Operations Maintenance Coordinator in the day to day planning and execution of all Stock Prep maintenance related activities. Support, develop, and maintain optimal inventory plans and assist with inventory management for equipment and critical spare parts. Serve as a resource for operators and maintenance to learn and understand more about the process and its related control systems and strategies. Keep documentation and equipment records up to date. Drive and support continuous improvement activities related to safety, quality and cost Lead projects to improve and optimize processes, provide assistance to production areas in evaluating changes to operations, aid personnel in troubleshooting. Determine root cause and corrective actions for quality and production deficiencies. Write, update and maintain all SOP'S and procedures pertaining to Stock Prep. Ensure proper housekeeping is maintained in the Pulp Mill. Sustain the morale and motivation of maintenance personnel and handle employee concerns as they arise. Fill in for Department Manager as needed.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/COMPETENCIES
Must possess a solid knowledge of the Pulp and Paper Process with a thorough knowledge of the stock prep area. At least 10 years of supervisor and people management experience Excellent written and verbal communication skills Self-motivated Excellent problem solving and decision making abilities Excellent planning, organization and time management skills. Candidates are required to undergo a drug screening after receiving a conditional job offer, but before starting employment.
