Assistant/Associate Professor of Music Expand Assistant/Associate Professor of Music
Louisiana Christian University seeks a qualified candidate to serve as an Assistant Professor of Music. This is a full-time 9-month tenure-track teaching position to begin August 1, 2026. The position is open until filled.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Teach applied voice to music majors, music minors, and elective students. This may include preparing students for recital hours, studio seminars, and junior/senior recitals. Teach courses related to voice or at least one other area (such as theory, music appreciation, or musical theatre) based on the candidate's expertise and curriculum needs. Coordinate with other faculty to support and/or produce performance events, such as the annual Alsup Voice Competition and Christmas on the Hill. Develop opportunities for outreach and engagement with area music teachers and/or high school students. Teach a course load of twelve (12) or equivalent credits per semester. Maintain office hours and availability to students and colleagues. Serve on institutional committees as assigned and fulfill other appropriate institutional and professional duties.Qualifications:
Master's degree required; earned or pursuing a doctorate or terminal degree desirable. Ability to teach applied voice, including art song, aria, and contemporary traditions. Ability to guide students in bel canto as well as other techniques, such as musical theatre and contemporary church music. Demonstratable knowledge in vocal diction, technique, and pedagogy. Piano skills sufficient to teach lessons without a regular accompanist. Capacity to teach in at least one musical area not specific to voice (e.g., theory, music appreciation, basic keyboard skills). Ability to utilize online instructional tools (LMS, integrated textbook tools, etc.).
