Job Description
Founded in 1870, The Webb School is a private boarding school in Bell Buckle, Tennessee. Students from grades 6 -12 come from all over the world seeking college preparatory school education in liberal arts. At present, the school enrolls students from 12 U.S. states and over 20 countries. The Webb School has a reputation of being one of the top private boarding schools in the nation. Webb's small school community has an average enrollment of 350 day and boarding students and an emphasis on honor that truly creates a premier learning environment. The 150-acre campus is located in a rural setting 50 miles southeast of Nashville. Assistive Technology Specialist with Learning Support (Grades 6-12) Position Overview The School seeks a knowledgeable, student-centered professional to serve as an Assistive Technology Specialist for students in grades 6-12. This role is dedicated to supporting students with mild learning differences by strengthening executive functioning skills, providing targeted academic support, and ensuring effective implementation of accommodations. The ideal candidate brings both expertise in assistive technology and a deep commitment to helping students build independence. confidence. and self-advocacy. Key Responsibilities The Assistive Technology Specialist will work closely with students, faculty, and families to provide coordinated and individualized learning support.
Responsibilities include:
Provide one-on-one and small-group academic support focused on organization, time management, study strategies, and executive functioning Support students in understanding and effectively using their accommodations Integrate and recommend assistive technology tools (e.g., text-to-speech, speech-to-text, organizational platforms) to enhance learning and independence Collaborate with faculty to implement classroom strategies and accommodations that support diverse learners Help students develop self-advocacy skills and confidence in navigating their academic experience Monitor student progress and communicate regularly with teachers, advisors, and families Maintain documentation related to student support plans and accommodations Stay current with best practices in learning support, executive functioning coaching, and assistive technology Qualifications Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree in education, special education, or related field preferred Experience working with middle and/or high school students with mild learning differences Knowledge of executive functioning strategies and academic support practices Demonstrated experience with or strong understanding of assistive technology tools for learning Training in Orton-Gillingham or a willingness to complete training Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills A student-centered approach with the ability to build trusting, supportive relationships Preferred Attributes Experience in an independent or college-preparatory school environment Familiarity with accommodation plans and learning profiles A proactive, solution-oriented mindset with attention to detail Commitment to ongoing professional learning and growth To apply, please send a resume and cover letter to employment@webbschool.com , including your name and the title of the position in the subject line.
