Exempt Job Purpose:
The Associate Dean for Wholeness & Wellness oversees counseling and health services at Asbury University. Serving directly under the Vice President for Student Life, the ADWW is a member of the Student Life Executive Leadership Team. This person performs various duties assigned by the Vice President for Student Life in the administration of personnel, programs, and services that pertain to counseling, clinic oversight, budget supervision, assessment, practicum counselor training and wholeness/wellness campus-wide education. An important part of the position is supporting the ministry and mission of the University and advancing the academic excellence and spiritual vitality of our University and students. Each employee plays an important role in the development of the Christian faith in our students.
Essential Functions:
Provide supervision of planning, implementation, and evaluation of the administrative and clinical operations of the Center for Wholeness & Wellness. This includes all matters pertaining to budget, departmental assessment, training and supervision of staff and interns, service provision, and marketing to students and campus community. Oversee and administrate counseling and clinic services for the student population of Asbury University. This includes all matters pertaining to individual, group, couple, pre-marital and marital counseling as well as individual health care. Maintain testing and assessment services (i.e., personality, intellectual and pre-marital) for students who are either receiving services from the Student Counseling Service or are participating in authorized academic or Student Life activities. This includes maintaining the current battery of personality, intellectual and pre-marital tests while providing supervision of their utilization by the Center for counseling staff. Organize and administrate services to assist in campus psychological and medical emergencies. Acute crisis intervention and emergency counseling/medical referral are available 24 hours a day through the Center for Wholeness &Wellness professional staff. Provide consultation and assistance in Student Life programming in the areas of Wholeness & Wellness. This includes functioning as a liaison to other departments within Student Life, participating in Student Life activities, and developing cooperative programs within Student Life to meet student needs. In particular it involves developing an effective working relationship with the Student Health Services (The Clinic) to meet the global health needs of the student population. To provide outreach programs of a preventive and remedial nature in the areas of health and wellness. To maintain and administrate the master's level counseling internship training program. Other duties as assigned.
Physical requirements:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. This position requires the ability to occasionally lift office products and supplies, up to 20 pounds.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:
This is a full-time on-site position, and hours of work and days are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5 p.m. Potential exists to work some evenings and weekends.
Travel:
No travel is expected for this position.
Qualifications:
Master's degree from an accredited college or university in psychology, counseling or a related field required. A Doctoral degree in the listed fields preferred. It is essential that the person in this position have experience in the following areas: Counseling and psychotherapy in university student populations Crisis intervention Psychological testing and assessment Experience in administration of university student counseling centers and/or wholeness service centers is preferred. A committed and dynamic Christian faith is vital along with the ability to support the University's theological position, lifestyle standards and mission.
