Job Description

Job Summary The Associate Dean of Instruction, provides support and oversight for assigned instructional programs and works collaboratively to identify and implement emerging opportunities relative to new programs, under the direction of the Dean of Instruction. The Associate Dean is responsible for assigned aspects of program success, which may include recruiting, marketing, scheduling, equipping, staffing, funding, program contracts, planning, assessment, activities, accreditation, and compliance. This position is a highly visible educational manager in the college, district high schools, community, and business/industry, related to the areas of responsibility. There are two openings, one in the ACSS/MS Division and one in the BTE Division.
Supervisor Responsibilities:
Manage a team of part-time, non CBA staff, which includes: Overseeing daily operations and guiding team members to ensure productivity and efficiency. Conducting regular check-ins and delivering constructive feedback. Addressing and resolving team conflicts or issues promptly. Ensuring compliance with college policies, procedures, and regulation. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Build positive, respectful relationships and collaborate effectively with colleagues and stakeholders in a civil and encouraging environment. Communicate clearly and professionally in both verbal and written formats, tailored to diverse audiences and contexts. Demonstrate a strong commitment to fostering an engaging, inclusive, and student-centered learning environment that supports academic success and personal growth. Demonstrate knowledge of principles and processes for delivering exceptional student services. This includes needs assessment, establishing service quality standards, and evaluating satisfaction to continuously improve the student experience. Demonstrate the ability to lead by example, inspire others, and foster a positive, inclusive work environment. Maintain the confidentiality of sensitive information and adhere to FERPA and institutional policies. Manage multiple tasks efficiently, prioritize responsibilities, and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment. Proficient in software systems, such as Microsoft Office Suite and basic office equipment; comfortable learning new technologies as needed. Proficient in using educational technologies and learning management systems to support instructional delivery, training, and administrative functions. Provide exceptional support and assistance to students, staff, and community members with empathy and professionalism. Required Qualifications Master's degree or relevant experience, education and training that equates to the required degree. Higher education teaching. Preferred Qualifications Community college teaching experience. Physical Demands Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials up to 25 pounds with proper equipment; reasonable accommodations available. Light physical activity required; must be able to work in an office setting, use standard office equipment, and communicate effectively in various formats. Primarily daytime hours with some evening and weekends to support College events and initiatives. Internal Posting for Position, College Website Description of Job Duty Assist the Dean of Instruction with the daily operations of assigned programs in the Office of Instruction In consultation with the Dean of Instruction, oversee and participate in the evaluation of the adjunct faculty and improvement of the instruction processes Resolve student complaints, problems, and conflicts in assigned programs, working collaboratively with faculty, student services, and other administrators as needed Advise the Dean, Office of Instruction, of short-term and long-term impacts of program offerings aligned to the college's strategic plan Work collaboratively with other Divisions and departments to assure schedule alignment for student success and completion Work with and enhance partnerships with business/industry to identify emerging skills and hiring trends Collect and maintain related records and reports Assist the Dean, Office of Instruction, with grant-funded projects Coordinate the procurement, maintenance, and distribution of equipment and materials related to the delivery of assigned programs Partner with district high school faculty and administrators for development and implementation of Transitional and Dual Credit course offerings Research and implement innovative strategies to enhance student learning and success, including innovations in technology, pedagogy, and competency-based education Serve on the Professional Development committee Work with faculty members and Director of Curriculum and Program Development to review and revise curricula to include diverse perspectives and contributions Offer workshops and training sessions to raise awareness about unconscious biases, microaggressions, and classroom cultural competency for faculty Perform other duties as assigned.
