Primary Purpose:
To provide strategic leadership and management for the district's entire academic program, including curriculum development, instructional delivery, professional development, and the accountability/testing system. This role ensures that all educational programs are effective, efficient, compliant with state and federal laws, and aligned with district goals to maximize student achievement and performance. Qualifications
Education/Certification:
Master's degree in Education Administration or Curriculum and Instruction (Doctorate preferred). Valid Texas Principal or Superintendent Certificate & Valid Texas teaching certificate.
Special Knowledge/Skills:
In-depth knowledge of curriculum, instruction, and Texas accountability systems (STAAR/EOC). Knowledge of adult learning strategies and professional development design. Ability to interpret complex data (statistical analysis) and evaluate instructional effectiveness. Ability to manage multi-departmental budgets and personnel. Strong communication, public relations, and interpersonal skills to engage stakeholders. Mastery of federal and state compliance requirements (Bilingual/ESL, Special Education, etc.).
Experience:
At least 3-5 years of successful classroom teaching experience. Significant experience in instructional leadership roles (e.g., Campus Principal or District Director). Proven track record in developing training programs and managing district-wide assessment programs. Major Responsibilities and Duties Instructional & Program Management Oversee the development, implementation, and revision of all district curriculum documents and instructional programs. Lead the district-level decision-making process to establish academic goals and objectives. Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of instructional programs (including Bilingual/ESL) using applied research and student performance data. Ensure that the necessary time, resources, materials, and technology are available to support educational goals. Stay abreast of current research and best practices to adjust district plans and policies accordingly. Accountability, Testing, and Research Oversee the administration of all state and federally mandated student assessment programs. Ensure strict security and confidentiality of testing materials and investigate any irregularities. Analyze and interpret student test data to identify trends and provide clear, usable reports to campus leaders and the Board of Trustees. Collaborate with instructional staff to design measurement instruments for evaluating the success of pilot projects and specialized programs. Professional Development Direct a comprehensive professional development program that supports district vision and teacher growth. Ensure training for administrators and teachers incorporates adult learning strategies and district-wide goals. Secure specialists and consultants as needed to enhance staff capacity. Personnel & Personnel Management Select, train, supervise, and evaluate staff within the Curriculum, Instruction, and Accountability departments. Prepare and review job descriptions and make recommendations regarding assignment, retention, and dismissal of department personnel. Participate in the implementation of the teacher appraisal system. Policy, Budget, and Law Ensure district compliance with all federal and state laws, State Board of Education rules, and local board policy. Develop and administer the curriculum and accountability budgets, ensuring funds are managed prudently and are cost-effective. Oversee grant-writing activities to obtain additional program funding. Maintain all required records, reports, and documentation for audit and compliance purposes. Communication and Community Relations Articulate the district's mission, instructional philosophy, and performance data to the community, parents, and the Board of Trustees. Maintain professional relationships and open communication with all stakeholders. Use effective techniques to encourage parent and community involvement in the educational process. Professional Growth and Other Participate in professional development to improve skills related to job assignment Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor or other administrators that are consistent with the general requirements and qualifications for the position
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Supervise, evaluate, and recommend the hiring and firing of career and technology instructional staff, aides, and support staff.
