Auction Rep

Granite Union Auction Company is a live auction house and antique retail shop in Franklin, NH. We run an in-person auction most Sundays at 2pm. Auctions are one of two different types — curated Antique auctions upstairs and walk-around Discovery auctions downstairs. When a month has a 5th Sunday, we'll try to take that weekend off. This is a part-time W-2 role averaging 6-8 hours per week. Auction Sundays are the primary commitment. We'll have a bigger pool of trained staff than we need for each auction, and a scheduling app for everyone to sign up for shifts that work for them. Additional hours on Fridays, Saturdays, and Mondays, or work at our Jaffrey warehouse and consignment pickup locations, are scheduled based on need and availability. Responsibilities All staff are cross-trained across every part of the operation. Day-to-day tasks vary depending on the auction cycle.

Antique Auction Prep:

Staging, measuring, and helping to catalog lots for online publication. Numbering and tagging lots. Setting up the upstairs showroom. Liza (Director of Operations) and Ryan (Auctioneer) will complete the catalog and launch it online by the Monday before the auction weekend.

Discovery Auction Prep:

Setting up lots in flats and on tables. Numbering and titling lots. Cleaning and organizing the downstairs space. Greeting consigners and helping load and unload items. Showing inventory to visitors during preview. Receiving and documenting Absentee Bids from buyers. During Discovery weekends, Antique consignments may also be arriving for receiving and sorting.

Auction Day:

Auction Sundays are staffed by the full team.

Roles include:

Scribe — recording all sales from a fixed position at the front of the room Registration and Checkout — signing in bidders before the auction and processing payments after Runners — showing items during the sale, delivering lots to buyers, helping with packing and loading Flex — floating between the floor and reception room as needed After the auction, all staff assist with load-out and cleanup.

Retail, Setup, and Pickup Days:

Tasks may include staffing the retail floor, receiving consignments, moving and staging inventory, packing and loading pickup items, and general preparation for upcoming auctions. Requirements Available to work Sundays on a consistent basis (typically from 1pm to 6pm) and commit to work the Sunday shifts you've signed up for Able to stand for extended periods, lift up to 50 lbs, and navigate stairs Professional demeanor — phones away during shifts, attentive to customers and inventory Careful with valuable, fragile, and sometimes irreplaceable items Comfortable taking direction on setup days and working independently at a station on auction days Interest or experience in antiques, art, or estate items is a plus but not required Compensation $25.00 per hour, paid weekly via direct deposit, including paid training Workers' compensation coverage included, does not include health care benefits Preferred staff consignment rates Preferred staff referral rates How to Apply Email your resume to liza@graniteunionauction.com .
