Category Schools - Deaf / Hard of Hearing Specialist Job Type Contract Empower students to reach their full potential by supporting those who are deaf or hard of hearing in an educational setting near Harwood Heights, IL. This contract position is designed for professionals who are passionate about accessible learning and breaking communication barriers in schools. If you have a background as an Educational Audiologist, a Speech-Language Pathologist with ASL certification, or as a Teacher for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing, your expertise is exactly what's needed to help foster an inclusive, thriving classroom environment.
Key Qualifications:
Credentialed as an Educational Audiologist, Speech-Language Pathologist with American Sign Language certification, or licensed Teacher for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing Experience adapting curricula, instruction, or learning environments for students with hearing loss Skilled in assessment and individualized planning for students with auditory needs Comfortable collaborating with multidisciplinary school teams, families, and community resources Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving abilities Prior school or pediatric experience highly valuedPrimary Responsibilities:
Conduct comprehensive assessments to determine students' communication and auditory needs Provide direct services, consultation, and intervention planning to support student access and learning Collaborate with classroom teachers and support staff to implement auditory accommodations and modifications Offer training and education on assistive technology and accessible instructional strategies Serve as a resource for families, empowering them to advocate for their children Document progress and participate in IEP and eligibility meetings as required This unique opportunity lets you make a profound impact in students' lives while collaborating in a supportive school community.
