Job Description

Junior Buckaroo Academy, LLC Breckenridge, TX | Full-Time At Junior Buckaroo Academy, LLC, we believe every child deserves the opportunity to learn, grow, and thrive in a safe, structured, and loving environment. We are currently seeking a compassionate, experienced, and highly motivated Autism Behavioral Support Specialist to support several high-needs students within our childcare program. This position is ideal for someone with experience working with children diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), including Level 2 and Level 3 support needs. The ideal candidate will possess strong behavioral management skills, emotional regulation strategies, and the ability to work collaboratively with staff and families. Position Summary The Autism Behavioral Support Specialist will provide individualized behavioral and emotional support to children with autism and developmental differences in a childcare classroom environment. This role focuses on promoting safety, communication, emotional regulation, social development, and successful participation in daily classroom routines. The specialist will assist in implementing behavior support plans, tracking behaviors and progress, supporting transitions, and helping classroom staff create a structured and inclusive environment for all children. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Provide direct behavioral and emotional support to children with autism and developmental disabilities Assist children during classroom activities, transitions, meals, outdoor play, and group participation Implement positive behavior support strategies and de-escalation techniques Observe, document, and track behaviors, triggers, and progress Support communication using visual schedules, PECS, first/then boards, and other autism support strategies Assist children with emotional regulation and sensory needs Work collaboratively with teachers, administration, therapists, and parents Help maintain a calm, structured, and safe classroom environment Assist in preventing unsafe behaviors including elopement, aggression, self-injury, or severe meltdowns Participate in staff meetings, training, and professional development Maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times
Preferred Qualifications Strongly Preferred:
Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) certification Experience in: Autism support ABA therapy Special education Behavioral intervention Early childhood special needs
Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED Minimum 1 year experience working with autistic children or children with developmental disabilities Ability to remain calm and professional during escalated behaviors Strong communication and teamwork skills Ability to physically assist children when necessary Preferred Skills & Experience Experience with: Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) strategies Visual schedules and structured routines Sensory regulation techniques Behavior documentation and tracking Nonverbal communication support Crisis prevention and de-escalation Certifications considered a plus: CPI Certification CPR / First Aid Special education training Childcare licensing experience Physical Requirements This position may require: Sitting on the floor Lifting up to 40 pounds Assisting children during behavioral episodes Quick response to safety concerns Active movement throughout the day Benefits Supportive team environment Opportunity to make a meaningful difference in children's lives Professional growth opportunities Paid training opportunities Stable, year-round employment Monday-Friday schedule Pay Pay based on experience, certifications, and qualifications.
