Job Description

This is a year-round position with a 7.5-hour work day with 4-5 weeks off throughout the school year and Fridays off in the summer. Special Education Paraprofessional Job Description Supporting Students with Autism in a Collaborative, Motivating Environment Position Overview This is a year-round Special Education Paraprofessional position designed to support students with Autism in the classroom within a one to one staff to student ratio. The role offers a 7.5-hour workday, with 4-5 weeks off distributed throughout the school year, and Fridays off during the summer months to support work-life balance. Key Responsibilities Work one-on-one with students with Autism in a fun, motivating atmosphere, primarily within the classroom setting. Implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) under the guidance of the lead teacher. Utilize principles of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) and Verbal Behavior (VB) to deliver tailored instruction and support. Foster a positive learning environment by managing classroom behaviors and encouraging student engagement. Collaborate with a team-based approach to provide individualized instruction and support for each student. Guide students in learning functional life skills and effective communication techniques. Maintain accurate records of student progress and daily activities as required. Transport students as needed, ensuring safety and compliance with all guidelines. Qualifications Minimum of 1 year of experience working with individuals with Autism. Bachelor's degree in psychology, education, or a related field is preferred. Valid driver's license and willingness to transport students. Current CPR/first aid certification and all required clearances. Core skills in communication and supporting individuals in acquiring life and communication skills. Ability to work collaboratively in a team-based environment. Professional Development Opportunities for mentoring and professional growth are available including RBT (Registered Behavior Technician) certifications. Summary As a Special Education Paraprofessional, you will teach, support, and guide students with Autism to achieve their educational goals. Reporting to the lead teacher, you will be an essential member of a collaborative team, implementing IEPs, managing classroom behavior, and fostering a positive and motivating learning environment. Your expertise in communication, compassion, and dedication to helping others will make a significant impact on our students and their families.
