Job Description

The Fill Room Sanitation employee is responsible for cleaning and sanitizing the fill room, packaging equipment, and surrounding work areas to support safe, efficient, and compliant food production. This role helps maintain sanitary conditions in accordance with company procedures, food safety standards, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), and all applicable safety requirements. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Clean and sanitize fillers, hoppers, conveyors, utensils, and other fill room equipment according to sanitation procedures and production schedules.
  • Disassemble and reassemble equipment as needed for proper cleaning and inspection.
  • Follow Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures (SSOPs), GMPs, allergen control practices, and food safety requirements at all times.
  • Use approved cleaning chemicals and sanitizers at the correct concentrations and according to label and safety instructions.
  • Inspect equipment and work areas to verify cleanliness and readiness for production startup.
  • Complete sanitation records, checklists, and other required documentation accurately and on time.
  • Remove product residue, waste, and packaging debris from the fill room and surrounding areas.
  • Maintain floors, drains, walls, and other assigned facility areas in a clean and orderly condition.
  • Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) and follow all plant safety rules, including lockout/tagout procedures when applicable.
  • Report equipment damage, chemical issues, pest activity, or food safety concerns to supervision immediately.
  • Support continuous improvement, housekeeping, and other sanitation-related duties as assigned.
  • Participate as a regular line worker on days when cleans are not scheduled. Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Previous sanitation, food manufacturing, or packaging experience preferred.
  • Basic understanding of food safety, sanitation practices, and chemical handling.
  • Ability to read and follow written procedures, labels, and safety instructions.
  • Attention to detail and ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with supervisors and coworkers. Physical Requirements and Work Environment
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, and lift during the shift.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Ability to work in wet, cold, and fast-paced production environments.
  • Ability to work around cleaning chemicals, hot water, and moving equipment safely.
  • May be required to work overtime, weekends, or off-shift hours based on sanitation schedules.
Key Skills and Compliance Expectations This position plays a critical role in protecting product quality and food safety. The Fill Room Sanitation employee must consistently follow company policies, sanitation procedures, GMPs, allergen controls, and safety practices to help ensure the fill room remains audit-ready and production-ready at all times. Compensation $16/hour
