Job Description

Job Title:
Automation Engineer Job Description This position is responsible for utilizing technology to improve, streamline, and automate manufacturing processes. The role involves coordinating the planning, implementation, and monitoring of technological projects. The Automation Engineer will improve and build new high-volume automation projects in coordination with the engineering department. Responsibilities Research, identify, and utilize technologies to automate manufacturing processes. Design and document new automation equipment and processes. Develop project proposals and cost estimates for automation projects. Lead automation projects from initial concept/feasibility to full implementation on the production floor. Provide work guidance to automation technicians and team members. Simulate and analyze automation opportunities. Develop clear and accurate documentation to support automation equipment and processes. Generate reports for colleagues outlining new concepts, tests, and efficiency gains. Develop and implement training programs for changes in programming, maintenance, or setup of automation equipment. Troubleshoot new and existing automated processes or equipment when errors occur. Advocate and implement the highest production standards and LEAN principles. Communicate automation specifications to departments as needed. Support software qualifications to comply with medical device requirements. Maintain appropriate documentation for engineering and manufacturing process changes. Essential Skills Expertise in automation, PLC programming, troubleshooting, robotics, electrical, and controls engineering. Experience with PLC/HMI programming, specifically Allen Bradley. Proficiency in working with Fanuc Robots. Strong troubleshooting skills. Experience in the medical manufacturing sector. Proficiency in AutoCAD Electrical. Additional Skills & Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Automation or Engineering with 5 years of experience, or an associate's degree with 8 years of practical automation experience. Experience in the design and selection of complex automation solutions. Experience with leading automation projects and implementing solutions into production. Proficient PC skills in a Windows environment, especially Word and Excel. Effective written and verbal communication skills. Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills. Strong market knowledge of available automation equipment. Ability to travel between sites as needed. Work Environment The work environment involves both an office/desk setting and the manufacturing floor, with an approximate 70/30 mix. Minimal travel, less than 5%, is required. Job Type & Location This is a Permanent position based out of Big Lake, MN. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $90000.00 - $130000.00/yr.
