We are looking for an Automation Engineer to join our team and help drive the development of cutting-edge machine control software. Position Summary The Automation Engineer will be responsible for developing, testing, and maintaining safe and reliable control software for industrial machinery. This includes PLC programming, HMI development, VFD parametrization, and industrial networking. This role is critical to setting the standard for the form, fit, and function of our machine control software and will directly contribute to the innovation, safety, and performance of our products. Key Responsibilities Software Development & Integration Develop, implement, and test PLC programs using Siemens TIA Portal and Rockwell Studio 5000 . Configure and design HMI systems using AVEVA InTouch (occasional use of WinCC and FactoryTalk). Perform VFD parametrization and commissioning for large motors (>600kW). System Design & Standardization Define software architecture and standards for machine control systems. Establish control logic templates, code libraries, and documentation practices. Participate in design reviews to align hardware and software integration. Testing & Troubleshooting Support and execute Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs) and assist in Site Acceptance Tests (SATs) . Diagnose and resolve automation issues both remotely and on-site. Industrial Networking & Safety Design and maintain communication networks (Ethernet/IP, Profinet, Modbus TCP). Ensure all automation solutions meet safety standards and best practices. Documentation & Support Prepare manuals, logic diagrams, control narratives, cause-and-effect diagrams, and P&IDs. Provide training and technical support to service technicians and internal teams. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Automation, or related field. 3+ years of experience in automation engineering for industrial machinery (plastics or heavy equipment preferred).
Proficiency in:
Siemens PLC programming (TIA Portal) Rockwell PLC programming (Studio 5000) AVEVA InTouch HMI configuration Experience with large VFDs (≥600kW) including commissioning and parameter setup. Strong knowledge of industrial safety standards and control systems design. Experience with FATs, troubleshooting live systems, and working with instrumentation, pneumatics, and hydraulics.
