THE POSITION
Are you eager to showcase your mechanical expertise? If you are seeking a challenging yet fulfilling position, consider the Automotive Mechanic role with the Department of Transportation at the Wyoming County Maintenance Organization. You will be part of a dedicated team responsible for the maintenance and repair of various hand tools, as well as a fleet of construction equipment and trucks powered by both gasoline and diesel engines, including manual and automatic transmissions. This position allows you to play a vital role in supporting Pennsylvania's transportation network while enjoying a collaborative and engaging work atmosphere. DESCRIPTION OF WORK
In this position, you will be responsible for the maintenance and repair of various vehicles and equipment, such as cars, trucks, tractors, construction machinery, and power tools. Your tasks will involve performing preventive maintenance, oil changes, diagnostics, tune-ups, and repairing or replacing parts in systems like the engine, cooling, suspension, electrical, fuel, brake, steering, and driveline. Additionally, you will conduct state safety and emissions inspections, service diesel equipment, assist with major repairs, keep equipment records, and provide emergency road service when necessary. You will also need to carry out cutting and burning operations, procure parts and supplies, complete necessary reports, and ensure a clean and safe work environment. It is essential to follow safety protocols, use protective gear properly, and report any injuries or hazards promptly. Employees are expected to adhere to attendance and scheduling guidelines, support environmental protection efforts, and engage in maintenance activities that align with the Strategic Environmental Management Program to promote eco-friendly practices.
Work Schedule and Additional Information:
Full-time employment Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch. Work hours subject to change due to weather/season; winter shifts - 4:00 AM to 12:00 PM or 12:00 PM to 8:00 PM

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
Four years of experience in the automotive mechanic trade; or Completion of an approved apprenticeship; or Any combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledges, skills, and abilities.
Special Requirements:
This position requires possession of a valid driver's license which is not under suspension. This position requires possession of a valid Class 1 Inspection Mechanic certificate or equivalent that allows inspection for Class 1 vehicles.
