Automotive Repair Mechanic (Diesel Trucks & Company Vehicles)

Tropical Shipping is seeking a Port Mechanic lll to join our team of professionals! The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills, accountability, a solid work ethic and commitment to excellence. This role performs preventative maintenance on motorized shore equipment as well as troubleshooting and repairs. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Advanced Diagnostics:

Troubleshoot and repair complex mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues using modern diagnostic software.

Mentorship:

Provide technical guidance and training to Mechanic I and II team members.

Documentation:

Accurately log all work orders, parts usage, and inspections within the Maintenance Management System (CMMS).

Minor Maintenance:

Perform engine, transmission, and differential repairs/replacements on various diesel platforms (e.g., Cummins, Toyota).

Preventative Maintenance:

Execute high-level PM inspections to ensure compliance with DOT and company safety standards.

System Mastery:

Maintain and repair air brake systems, ABS, fuel systems, and complex electrical circuits. Performs other duties as required

Educational Requirements:

High School Diploma or equivalent (Preferred)

Experience Requirements:

Experience:

Minimum of 3-5 years of professional experience in heavy-duty truck or heavy equipment maintenance.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to twist, bend, reach, squat, kneel, climb on equipment, crawl Push and/or pull 50 pounds, Lift and carry 80 pounds, and Push and/or pull 200 lbs on a daily basis Able to withstand constant exposure to extreme weather conditions

Other Requirements:

Valid local driver's license - Non-Commercial Class E and ability to acquire a Class B commercial license Travel is required up to 10% Must pass background check to obtain TWIC badge Must read, write, and speak in
