Make a monthly projection of the vehicle requirements by department for the immediate 90-day sales period Create the monthly and annual dealership sales and finance forecasts by estimating total vehicle sales, gross and operating profits as well as expenses for the new-and-used sales departments; meet with sales managers to plan and implement objectives for achieving sales and gross profits; meet monthly with the dealership's general manager to review forecasts and profits for each department Prepare and administer an annual operating budget for the new and used vehicle sales departments, establish department operating procedures Direct and schedule the activities of all department employees, always ensuring proper staffing; assist all subordinate sales managers in all phases of their job descriptions when overburdened or when sickness and/or vacation occurs Consult with New and Used Car managers on proper model mix and inventory controls; monitor customer's likes and dislikes, lost sales, and dealership sales history. Conduct local market analyses to determine which vehicles to stock Work to devise and implement an ongoing schedule of training for sales personnel, cross-train backup personnel; hold or participate in sales training meetings and ensure staff training is complete and up to date Review weekly commission sheets, productivity reports, salespersons' monthly forecast, and profit performance with the GM by salesperson and as a department Supervise and train Sales Managers to manage lease portfolio and work with the Customer retention department (Auto Alert) Interview, hire, motivate, counsel and monitor the performance of all sales managers; evaluate the performance of sales and finance managers annually based on job descriptions and department objectives Maintain the profitability of the sales and finance departments while controlling expenses and maintaining customer satisfaction; review departmental expenses with respective managers weekly Approve vacation schedule with the GM Establish and enforce product knowledge standards Listen to and review the handling of incoming sales calls Maintain a 100-percent turnover of each deal to F&I; ensure customers go to the F&I office before they go to outside financing, each deal is submitted to the F&I office regardless of advance or credit history and every deal with a committed customer is given to F&I for spot delivery decision Oversee standards for displaying and merchandising both new and used vehicles as well as reviewing and initialing all promotions before they are finalized Work directly with the general manager on making recommendations on both short and long-range advertising plans, sales promotions, staffing needs, lease promotions and compensation plans. Maintain Customer Satisfaction Index ratings at least comparable to that of the manufacturer, zone or branch average for the sales and finance departments Make sure the dealership is in good standing with the manufacture's compliance standards. So, we can earn and maximize all the incentives that are potentially available Ensure proper follow-up of all potential buyers by developing, implementing and monitoring a prospecting and sales control system; maintain an accurate CRM and daily log that reflects all sales activities in the sales department Handle customer complaints, ensuring that a high level of customer satisfaction is obtained; handle customer complaints immediately and according to store guidelines Audit all appraisals of trade-in vehicles; appraise trade-in vehicles as necessary Review finance issues daily; stay abreast of concerns and monitor status until resolved Maintain top efficiency from New Car, Used Car, and F&I managers; review the process for the sales department and finance daily Monitor daily recaps provided by the desk records; review and analyze pending deals, back outs, turn downs and grosses. Provide Dealer/GM with results of daily review as required Observe the daily activities of the management team, i.e., desk procedures, appraisals, negotiation techniques, etc Organize and conduct the daily management meeting and the Saturday sales meeting; attend the department head meeting weekly Be involved in the hiring, development and training of all sales personnel. Dress in accordance with the seasonal dress code for your department. (Snow days may differ) Wear a name badge whenever you are at the dealership Coordinate inter-departmental relations; strive for harmony and teamwork with all other departments, cooperate with other high-level management within the dealership to meet business and customer needs Responsible for training and mentoring all managers; use role-play and individual counseling. Maintain proper relationships with the factory and their representatives Participate in desk and floor schedules daily; set the example for managers Work with managers to forecast controllable expense elements for the new, used and finance departments; establish recommended unit sales and dollar gross profit objectives for the Daily Operating Control, establish department operating procedures Properly document employee behavior that may result in punitive job actions such as termination Communicate with sales and finance managers to ensure that dealership policies and procedures are understood and followed. Ensure that all department employees follow safety policies and practices and that they report all accidents immediatelyOTHER DUTIES
Understand, keep abreast of, and comply with federal, state and local regulations that effect vehicle sales Adhere to the company polices for the following: Nonpublic information and Comply Auto Dealership Security Awareness Participate in ongoing training as directed by management or the factory General housekeeping Any other duties as assigned by manager Assist with snow removal in the winterQUALIFICATIONS
Must have a valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record according to dealership standards College education with a concentration in business management or marketing a plus At least two years in a dealership sales management position. Professional personal appearance Ability to remain calm while diffusing touchy situations At least two years' experience in a dealership sales environment. Must be comfortable managing multiple departments and people.
