Job Description

A Service Advisor, or Automotive Service Advisor, is responsible for communicating with customers about their vehicle repair needs and relaying information to the Service Technicians. Their duties include greeting customers and helping them determine repairs and relevant costs, maintaining up-to-date knowledge about their employer's range of services and contacting customers to update them about their vehicle's repair status. Qualifications Automotive diagnostics and repair knowledge with strong mechanical aptitude Excellent customer service and communication skills; ability to greet and engage customers Experience in service writing, auto estimating, and sales within a dealership or service center Valid experience as a service advisor or service technician; familiarity with service writing processes Basic to intermediate dealership operations knowledge; ability to coordinate with technicians and manage work orders Relevant skills in oil changes, transmissions, brakes, suspensions, alignments, tire service, and preventive maintenance Strong problem-solving, time management, and multitasking abilities Responsibilities Greet customers, assess vehicle needs, and schedule service appointments with clear explanations of recommended repairs and maintenance. Perform or coordinate automotive diagnostics, multi-point inspections, and estimates; communicate findings and costs to customers. Authorize and write service orders, upsell maintenance or repairs as appropriate, and ensure parts and labor are accurately billed. Coordinate with technicians and manage workflow to ensure timely vehicle turnaround and quality workmanship. Maintain high standards of customer service, safety, and vehicle care; document all interactions and service history.
