Automotive Service Advisor / Writer

Job Summary We are seeking a dynamic and customer-focused Automotive Service Advisor / Writer to join our fast-paced dealership team. In this vital role, you will serve as the primary point of contact for customers seeking vehicle maintenance and repair services. Your expertise in automotive diagnostics, mechanical knowledge, and exceptional customer service skills will ensure a seamless experience for clients while driving service sales and fostering long-term relationships. Duties Greet customers warmly, listen to their vehicle concerns, and accurately document service requests. Explain repair and maintenance procedures clearly, providing detailed auto estimates and recommendations. Coordinate with technicians to prioritize repairs, ensuring timely and efficient service delivery. Upsell additional services such as oil changes, tire services, brake repairs, alignments, suspension work, and transmission repairs to maximize customer satisfaction and dealership revenue. Manage vehicle repair orders from start to finish, including parts ordering, work scope review, and final billing. Maintain thorough records of all customer interactions, service histories, and cash handling transactions. Stay informed about automotive repair techniques and industry trends to provide expert advice on vehicle maintenance needs. Skills Proven dealership experience with a strong understanding of auto service management and customer relations. Extensive knowledge of automotive diagnostics, mechanical systems, and repair procedures including transmissions, diesel engines, air brakes, shocks & struts, wheel alignments, suspension systems, tire services, brake repairs, oil changes, auto body repairs, and auto estimating. Ability to upsell services confidently while maintaining transparency and trust with customers. Experience working with service technicians on automotive repairs such as automotive diagnostics and mechanical troubleshooting. Strong sales skills with a focus on automobile sales integration when applicable. Excellent communication skills to explain complex technical issues in an understandable manner. Proficiency in cash handling and retail transaction processes within a dealership environment. Mechanical aptitude combined with customer service expertise to build rapport and ensure customer satisfaction.
