Job Description

We are looking for a solid reliable rock-steady stable Manager for our sweet gentle horse and adorable donkey. They live on our property with us, but we frequently travel and have busy work schedules. This will position will run through May and begin again in September for the cooler season. Our horses are basically our pets, one is a 22 year old Quarter Horse that likes to nuzzle and give kisses (he really likes ATTENTION, and he is a tough guy, so he needs to respect you). The other is a rescued donkey who is about 6 years old, he also needs LOVE and
ATTENTION.
(daily hugs required for real or he will not eat). The hours are normally 7am-12pm M-F ( We call this day shift) and then 4pm or 7pm ( we call this the night shift) . You can have both shifts ideally, or if you can only take of the 2 shifts please let us know and maybe we can spilt the job. We are in Paradise Valley near the Hermosa Inn (near 32nd Street and Stanford), hopefully you live nearby as that makes it easy to come and go. The job entails general upkeep of the small 2-horse stable and arena and helping to keep the horses happy. Most of the time you'll be alone so most of the work and responsibility is yours (hope you like mucking hahah). There is some upkeep and groundskeeping work needed for the arena & property (minor landscaping involved) and the riding trail (it's a small trail that loops around our 2 acre lot, ground squirrels dig holes that need to constantly be filled etc..). They also need to be exercised and light training (especially Elvis the donkey who hates trailers and we need you to trailer-train him). Our horses are our kids, and they are definitely spoiled and we want to keep them that way! Ideally you have a lot of experience with horses and a true love of them. We need you to have your own reliable transportation so that you can come and go as needed. We can be flexible with scheduling but generally need someone during late mornings through afternoons when we're in town (when we're out of town there's a lot more of course). What's super important to us is that you're extremely reliable, well organized, a clean freak, gentle with horses, very knowledgeable about horses and are the type of person that passionately connects with them and truly loves them. You'd be responsible working shifts out with the weekend stable hand to ensure the horses are well looked after. We also travel frequently and during those times you'd be responsible for making sure they are even more looked after (so ideally you don't live too far from our little ranch in Paradise Valley because that would make this a LOT easier for their night feeding and in case there is a night emergency).
PLEASE READ BEFORE APPLYING
Attention to detail is KEY! It's a small stable but we need to keep it very clean and organized. You'd be responsible for managing any upgrades needed or repairs to the stable, and the general upkeep of the facility. We'd expect you to maintain a budget and to keep expenses within reason (yes horses are very expensive we know all too well). Also we need someone who is 10,000% reliable. We just had someone leave with zero notice (and no hay in the barn) which hurt our horses and our trust so want to really make sure the person we hire is of strong solid character! Horses can't be neglected, they are our kids and we need them to be very well taken care of by someone who is
VERY TRULY RELIABLE!
Please note this is a local job in Arizona and we only interview people who already live here in Arizona. We know that many people want to move to Arizona but we prefer people who already live here so they can be more familiar with the climate and horse living conditions. In June, July & August hours are reduced as they go up to Camp Verde to avoid the heat.

$22.00 - $24.00 per hour Expected hours: 30.0 - 40.0 per week

Can you please tell us about your experience with horses. We want to know your background when it comes to horses so we can understand how you'll work with ours?
