Job Summary:
This is skilled work in maintaining and repairing the Tribes' water system and related equipment. An employee of this class is required to follow the duties and responsibilities as prescribed by the Utilities Director. Such responsibilities will entail providing safe and adequate water to those houses, businesses and office served by the CRIT Regional Water System.
Duties & Functions:
Inspect and operate water valves and hydrants. Inspect water mains for leaks and damage. Flush water lines, inspect water storage tanks and level indicators. Adjust and service controls, install and repair water mains and lines. Pull and repair well pumps as needed. Prepare reports as necessary and read water meters when needed. Other duties may be assigned at the discretion of the Director or designee to fulfill the Department's needs, objectives and/or goals. Follow established Tribal policies and those outlined in the Colorado River Indian Tribes Employee Handbook.
Required Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of methods, materials, tools and practices used in installing and repairing water mains and related fittings. Skills in the use and care of various tools used in assigned duties. Ability to draw rough plans of water mains and connections. Ability to follow oral and written instructions. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the public.
Education & Experience Requirements:
High School Diploma or G.E.D. Must possess a current valid driver's license throughout employment.
Physical Requirement:
Be able to stand at least eight (8) hours. Must successfully complete a drug screening test prior to appointment. Physically able to perform duties assigned. Must be able to lift, push or pull a minimum of twenty-five (25) pounds. Must be able to work in adverse outdoor climates. Must have own transportation. Occasionally work extended shifts as assigned, some weekends and holiday as needed.

Candidates must be able to successfully pass all required background checks to qualify for this position.
Drug Screening:
All applicants must successfully pass a pre-employment drug screening prior to beginning employment and will be subject to random drug testing per the CRIT Substance Abuse Policy.
