Daybreak, South Jordan, Utah About Éclair French Café Éclair French Café is a fast‑growing French bakery & café concept dedicated to crafting exquisite pastries, fine coffees, and providing a warm, elegant café experience. We value artistry, consistency, and hospitality. As we expand, we're seeking Baristas who are passionate about their craft, detail‑oriented, quick learners, and committed to elevating every guest interaction. Position Summary As a Barista at Éclair, you will be responsible for preparing high quality coffee, tea, and specialty beverages; delivering exceptional guest service; maintaining cafe standards; and helping to create a welcoming atmosphere. You'll work closely with other front‑of‑house (and possibly back‑of‑house) staff to ensure smooth operations during all shifts. Key Responsibilities Greet guests warmly, take drink and food orders, and serve beverages with friendliness and professionalism Prepare and serve high‑quality hot and cold drinks (espresso‑based, drip, pour‑over, teas, etc.) following recipe standards Steam milk and foam, handle grind settings, monitor shot timing, ensure drink presentation meets brand expectations Recommend menu items (pastries, specialty drinks, seasonal offerings), explain ingredients when asked Operate POS system, process payments accurately (cash, card, digital), give correct change Maintain cleanliness of coffee bar, equipment, workstations, utensils, and seating areas throughout shift Stock and restock supplies: milk / dairy alternatives, syrups, beans, cups, etc. Follow opening and closing procedures (set up equipment, cleaning, shutdown, restock) Adhere to all food safety, sanitation, and health department standards Handle guest questions, preferences, or complaints courteously; escalate issues to manager where needed Work collaboratively with other team members to support during busy periods (e.g. assisting with counter, dish‑up, workshop of pastries) Qualifications & Skills Experience as a Barista in a cafe is a must and have worked on manual or semi automatic on espresso machine. Passion for coffee, tea, and/or specialty drinks; curiosity about origins, brewing methods, etc. Strong interpersonal and customer service skills — friendly, attentive, and able to engage with guests Able to work under pressure, multitask, and maintain consistency during busy periods Good attention to detail (drink quality, presentation, order accuracy) Basic math skills (for payments, making change, measuring) Physical stamina: standing for long periods; handling hot liquids and heavy items; occasional lifting (stock, supplies) Flexibility in schedule: early mornings, weekends and possibly holidays as needed Knowledge of or willingness to learn food safety and sanitation best practices Have food handler training optional (Coffee Arts) Compensation & Benefits Competitive hourly rate (based on experience) Tips from sales Flexible scheduling Employee discounts on food & beverage PTO after one year Working Conditions & Schedule Fast‑paced environment, particularly during peak morning / lunch hours Shifts may include early mornings, weekends, occasional evenings Must be reliable, punctual, and able to work cooperatively in a team Clean, organized workspace; frequent interaction with guests
