At the appropriate step on the Teachers' Salary Schedule Plus $7,500 annual stipendMinimum Qualifications:
Applicants must have a Bachelor's Degree or Higher in education, psychology, social work, or applied behavioral analysis. Master's Degree in education, psychology, social work, or applied behavioral analysis preferred. Michigan Department of Education fully approved School Psychologist, School Social Worker, Counselor, Special Education Teacher, or certified K-6 General Education Teacher with over 5 years of experience, preferred but not required. Behavior Intervention Specialist Certification preferred, but not required. Knowledge and Experience with Positive Behavior Support, Functional Behavior Analysis, and Behavior Intervention Planning, preferred. Training, familiarity, and experience with students with disabilities, developmental disabilities, dual diagnosis &/or emotional impairment Training in Non-Violent Crisis Intervention strategies or be willing to be trained. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with superior organization and communication skills Knowledge of MDE Emergency Seclusion & Emergency Restrain Law Proficiency in Google Suite applications (Docs, Sheets, Slides, Forms, etc) and online sourcing tools, with functional knowledge of internet use for search platforms Extensive knowledge of and experience with developing a platform for data collection, analysis, and progress monitoring. Ability to withstand the strain of the position Must be reliable and punctual with an excellent work-related attendance record Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the administration may find appropriate.Responsibilities:
Collaborates with classroom teachers, school psychologists, and school social workers on the implementation of behavioral intervention plans for students with significant behavioral and cognitive impairments. Facilitates Positive Behavior Support, Functional Behavior Analysis, and Behavior Intervention planning with staff, students, parents, agencies, and administrators. Support the development of IEP goals and objectives, meeting coordination, direct intervention, consultative intervention, record keeping, data collection, and effective communication Coordinate, monitor, interpret, and report data on targeted student behavior. Facilitate staff communication and staff development related to Positive Behavior Support, Functional Behavior Analysis, and Behavior Intervention Planning. Model appropriate behavior intervention techniques with staff and parents. Conduct direct and collaborative intervention service delivery with assigned students Facilitate effective,non-violent crisis intervention/service delivery with students as needed according to policies, procedures, laws, and standards. Complete effective formal and informal individual student assessments and produce accurate, articulate, and timely written reports. Participate as a member of the Multidisciplinary Evaluation Team for assigned cases. Communicate effectively in a liaison role with parents, staff, administration, school districts and agencies regarding current students and referrals. District Behavior representative at some Individual Education Plan (IEP) meetings. Provide professional learning to teachers and paraprofessionals on PBIS, NCI, FBA-BIP, EIP, and best practices for behavioral interventions and strategies Consult and collaborate with teachers, ancillary, paraprofessionals, administrators, parents, and outside agency support on a routine basis. Facilitate problem-solving utilizing a structured meeting format to address challenging behavior (s), classroom management, program concerns, etc. Aid team with developing successful transitions for incoming referrals and students returning to their resident district. Must be able to withstand the pressure of the job. Other duties as assigned by the Administrator This position is classified as Exempt Employment is contingent upon disclosure in accordance with PA-189. Ability to withstand the strains and successfully manage the responsibilities of the position. Must demonstrate reliability and punctuality, with a strong record of consistent attendance. Regular and dependable presence during school hours is essential. All staff members are expected to maintain a professional and respectful attitude toward one another at all times.
