Behavior Liaison Santa Clarita Valley Boys and Girls Club Santa Clarita, CA Description:
Position Summary:
The Behavior Liaison supports the implementation of effective behavior management systems across 10 Newhall School District elementary program sites. This role is responsible for coordinating, developing, and monitoring behavior support strategies, including safety plans and behavior contracts, while coaching staff and supporting communication with families. The Behavior Liaison works in close partnership with Site Coordinators, who maintain primary responsibility for youth case management, to ensure consistent, high-quality behavior support practices across all sites.Key Responsibilities:
Behavior Support & Coordination Develop, coordinate, and monitor behavior contracts and safety plans for youth with elevated behavior needs Ensure alignment with the organization's discipline matrix and behavior policies Support implementation of behavior strategies across multiple sites Monitor fidelity and consistency of behavior plan implementation Coaching & Staff Support Provide in-the-moment coaching to Youth Development Professionals (YDPs) and site staff during program hours Model effective behavior management and de-escalation techniques Identify trends in staff support needs and provide targeted guidance Over time, design and facilitate behavior management trainings for staff Collaboration & Communication Partner with Site Coordinators on student behavior cases (Site Coordinators retain case ownership) Collaborate with Assistant School Sites Directors to ensure alignment across sites Participate in parent meetings alongside Site Coordinators to support communication and plan implementation Serve as a liaison between staff, families, and leadership regarding behavior needs and strategies Monitoring, Documentation & Compliance Track and analyze behavior data across sites Review incident reports for accuracy, trends, and follow-up needs Monitor compliance with behavior contracts and safety plans Ensure documentation aligns with organizational expectations and timelines Program Support & Systems Development Identify patterns and trends in behavior across sites and recommend system-level improvements Support consistent application of the organization's discipline matrix Contribute to the development of behavior support systems and tools Work Schedule Morning hours: Planning, documentation, data tracking, and coordination Program hours: On-site coaching, staff support, and parent meetings Decision-Making Authority Provides direction to staff on behavior strategies and classroom management practices Recommends behavior plans and interventions Applies the organization's discipline matrix in alignment with policy Final disciplinary decisions are made by the School Sites Director in partnership with the districtRequirements:
Required Minimum of 3 years of experience in youth development, expanded learning, or related field Bachelor's degree in social work, child development, education, or related field (Equivalent experience may be considered in place of degree) Experience supporting youth with behavioral or social-emotional needs Strong understanding of behavior management strategies and child development Strong interpersonal and coaching skills Ability to influence without direct authority Sound judgment in behavior and safety situations Organization and attention to detail in documentation Ability to balance multiple sites and priorities Preferred Experience with behavior intervention planning or coaching staff Training in trauma-informed practices, de-escalation strategies, or similar frameworks Professional Development Assistance BGC employees receive tuition assistance and professional development assistance for approved coursework in accordance with company policy.
