Immediately Job Description North Marion School District is seeking a skilled and collaborative Behavior Specialist to support students with social, emotional, and behavioral needs. This position plays a key role in helping schools create safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environments where all students can succeed. The Behavior Specialist partners with teachers, administrators, families, and support staff to assess student needs, develop behavior support plans, and implement evidence-based strategies. This role combines direct student support with coaching and consultation to build staff capacity and promote positive outcomes for students across settings. Key Responsibilities Conduct functional behavioral assessments (FBAs) and develop individualized behavior support plans (BSPs) Provide direct support to students with social, emotional, and behavioral needs Collaborate with teachers, administrators, specialists, and families to implement and monitor behavior supports Coach and train staff in positive behavior strategies, de-escalation techniques, and classroom management Support implementation of school-wide Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) Participate in IEP, MTSS, and other student support meetings, contributing expertise in behavior and intervention strategies Assist in developing behavior-related IEP goals and monitor student progress Provide consultation and guidance to staff and families regarding behavior and social-emotional supports Support crisis prevention, response, and intervention in collaboration with school teams Maintain accurate documentation and records in compliance with state and federal requirements Collaborate with community partners and service providers to support students and families Participate in professional development and ongoing learning in evidence-based practices Serve as a positive and professional role model for students Required Qualifications Valid Oregon Teaching or Specialist License with appropriate endorsement (Behavior, Special Education, School Psychology, or related field) Successful background and criminal history clearance Knowledge of functional behavioral assessments (FBA), behavior support plans (BSP), and evidence-based behavioral strategies Experience supporting students with social, emotional, and behavioral needs in educational settings Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound professional judgment Ability to work effectively with students and families from diverse backgrounds Ability to manage physically and emotionally demanding situations with professionalism and care Ability to meet the physical demands of the position Preferred Qualifications Master's degree in special education, psychology, behavior analysis, or a related field Experience training or coaching staff in behavior strategies and classroom supports Experience with PBIS, MTSS, and special education processes To view full details, please visit our Behavior Specialist Job Description North Marion School District offers the best of both worlds—a close-knit, small-community atmosphere paired with the beauty of Oregon's surrounding landscapes and the strength of a supportive, welcoming community.
