Behavior Support Specialist Location:
Lane County PT-FT position
Wage:
Starting hourly rate is $25.00, but education and experience may justify a higher rate.
Job Information:
The Behavior Consultant is responsible for providing Behavior Support Services that are founded upon the principles of person-centered care, positive behavior supports and self-determination. The objective of the Behavior Consultant is to effectively develop supports in the person's environment and improve interactions with caregivers and other team members. The basic tool for accomplishing these supports will be a Behavioral Support Plan, structured to address: a) challenging behaviors, b) cognitive processing, c) communication skills, d) self-help activities, e) impulse control, and/or f) adaptive skills. Specific services provided by the Behavior Consultant will include an assessment, development of the behavior plan, coaching of the client's caregivers on the behavior plan, and subsequent monitoring and reassessment to assure that the plan is and remains effective.
Qualifications:
Effective at understanding and assessing behaviors. At least two years of experience in delivery of services in providing services to seniors, persons with physical disabilities, person with mental health illness or person with developmental disabilities. Two years of experience in the development, implementation, and or monitoring of person-centered care plans. Bachelor's Degree or higher level of education in psychology, sociology, or another human services field. Must be able to meet State timeliness and deadlines. Must be able to pass criminal background screening. Must have skills to use person centered/thinking/communication with clients, family members, and caregivers. Must have the ability in incorporate positive, proactive behavioral strategies in daily living. Training and ability to develop behavior guidelines for specific clients. Must be able to demonstrate to caregivers and community providers 1:1 coaching on ow to implement the guidelines. Must be able to work independently without direct supervision. Demonstrate professionalism, teamwork, responsiveness with prospective clients and others who many communicate with the agency. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Assess and identify persons desires and preferences. Complete at least 12 hours of continuing education per year.
