Behavioral Health Support Specialist

Thoroughways is hiring a Community Behavioral Health Specialist (CBHS) to provide HCBS Supported Community Living services in both our 24-hour residential program and hourly community-based settings. This role is best suited for professionals who take ownership of their work, exercise sound judgment in real-world situations, and work independently while maintaining high standards of person-centered support. The CBHS will work shifts across both our daily and 24-hour support services while modeling interactions that reflect Thoroughways' mission, vision, and values. This positions entails engaging participants in therapeutic interactions, community activities, and Person-Centered Service Plans. The CBHS supports services that respect autonomy, promote independence, and are done with people rather than for or to them, while helping other staff learn to do the same through in-the-moment modeling and support. This role carries higher expectations for reliability, judgment, and professionalism than a standard CBHS position. It does not include supervisory authority or clinical decision-making responsibilities.

Experience & Education Requirements Required:

Demonstrated experience providing HCBS Supported Community Living or comparable disability support services to individuals with cognitive disabilities Experience implementing Individualized Program Plans (IPP) and Personal Intervention Plans (PIP) in real-world service settings Experience working in 24-hour program settings and/or community-based environments preferred Ability to model professional, person-centered interactions that respect autonomy and promote independence Ability to support other employees through in-the-moment guidance, modeling, and problem-solving Education Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) in a related field required An equivalent combination of relevant education and HCBS experience may be considered Additional Requirements Must be at least 21 years of age Valid driver's license and ability to transport individuals in the community Ability to meet criminal background and dependent adult abuse check requirements Ability to work independently and respond effectively in dynamic service environments Strong professional judgment, reliability, and communication skills Employment may be contingent upon successful completion of a pre-employment physical examination and/or drug screening, as required by position or program Equal Employment Opportunity Thoroughways is an Equal Opportunity Employer and does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, age, disability, veteran status, or any other protected status in accordance with applicable law.
