Job Description
POSITION DESCRIPTION
Masters level psychotherapist or pre-licensed psychotherapist. The incumbent shall serve as provider in the provision of mental health services to Native Americans within the Toiyabe Indian Health Project service area. Will work cooperatively within a community-philosophy of care.ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Participate in on-site training and all other training as assigned which shall enhance professional growth.
- Provide direct mental health services with a knowledge of specialized mental health techniques to Native American individuals, families, groups and communities within the Toiyabe service area under the supervision of the Family Service Director.
- Complete clinical documentation in an accurate and timely manner.
- Adhere to professional ethical and legal standards in reporting of child, elder, or dependent adult abuse.
- Adhere to professional ethical and legal standards in the management of clients reporting suicidal or homicidal ideation, plans, or intent.
- Participate in weekly case reviews and clinical supervision.
- Supply such reporting and statistical data as required by the Family Service director.
- Perform home visits, and client advocacy as necessary to meet the therapeutic needs of the clients.
- Operate as a member of a community health provision team along with doctors, nurses and community service workers.
- Provide community and mental health presentations within the Toiyabe service area.
- Implement and/or organize traditionally based mental health activities.
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings.
- Provide mental health services ensuring the highest standards of ethics and competence in care.
- Coordinate services with other agencies.
- Provide assessment and referral to appropriate providers of mental health, medical services, substance abuse, crisis intervention, shelter services and legal services, etc.
- Other job-related duties as assigned.
REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSES
- Master's degree, PhD, or PsyD in Marriage, Child & Family Counseling, psychology, or social work. Licensed in California licensed.
- At least 5 years as a Behavioral Health Therapist I.
- Committed and experienced in the provision of mental health services to Native Americans.
- Must submit and clear a required fingerprint process.
- Must be sensitive and possess an awareness and keen appreciation of Indian traditions, customs, and socioeconomic needs of the Indian community.
- Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) certified or obtain within three months of hire.

Ability to input information into computer systems and retrieve and work with appropriate paperwork, equipment, and supplies. Use of standard office equipment, including computer, telephone, calculator, copiers, and fax.
