Job Description
Billing Specialist FT, 40 hrs. per week, M-F, 8:00 a.m.-4:30 p.m. with comprehensive insurance benefits, generous paid leave, retirement plan with eligibility for employer match, and EAP. Conduct financial interviews with clients in a professional and courteous manner with new or reopened clients to obtain demographic and insurance information necessary for medical record identification and bill processing, with related fee agreements. Input client financial registration information into computer system within 24 hours and verify accuracy of information. Includes entering demographic information and entering eligibility data into Client Abstract. Verify Medicaid, insurance and board eligibility, as applicable. Obtain authorizations as needed. Timely follow-up of client accounts for insurances as directed by supervisor. Maintain accurate records in compliance with HIPAA requirements. Assist as needed in mailing of monthly client statements, answer client calls and answer billing inquiries/questions. Process referrals in a timely manner and enrollments for clients eligible for board funding. Review claims to be billed for appropriateness and accuracy. Submit claims through Clearinghouse. Ability to assist with credentialing, as directed by supervisor. Work claims/denials and follow-up with insurance as needed. Participate in required trainings and meetings. Timely and accurate completion of reports/forms, ability to work a flexible schedule; be dependable and regular attendance. Communicate effectively with other depts., co-workers; meet dept. productivity expectations. Ability to cross-train others for various tasks, and be cross-trained in other dept. areas. Other duties as assigned/needed.
Minimum Requirements:
High school diploma or GED required, with one year related experience preferred. Ability to accurately perform computer data entry. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, strong organizational skills, ability to greet the public and staff in a pleasant and courteous manner and to effectively address their questions and concerns; work independently and as a member with a team. Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel), and relevant computer skills required. Ability to communicate with insurance companies; skilled in general math; accurate and highly attentive to details, oriented and sensitive to client needs and ability to maintain strict confidentiality of financial, clinical and/or personal data, as applicable.
