Job Description

About the Role The primary purpose of the Billing Specialist position is to ensure accurate and timely processing of all patient and insurance billing, follow-up and correspondence for University Hospital. What You'll Do Performs pre-billing preparations as required for electronic and manual claims submission. Reviews pre-bill edit/error reports and makes necessary corrections; Resubmits claims. Obtains and/or corrects any missing data elements required for billing purposes. Mails all hard copy claims to the appropriate insurance carrier with attachments, if required. Maintains and prepares daily billing and follow-up logs and statistical reports What You'll Bring High School Diploma or GED required Minimum of three (3) years of progressively responsible clerical experience At least one (1) year must be in a physician's office, hospital billing office, or insurance company Experience must include billing, collections, or medical insurance activities Familiarity with medical terminology preferred Prior experience working in a computerized environment required What We Offer Medical & Prescription Drug Coverage Dental & Vision Insurance Health Savings Account (HSA) & Flexible Spending Account (FSA) Short
