BIM Technician Job Description The BIM Technician supports structural and architectural building design projects by creating and managing detailed building information models in Revit and BIM. This role focuses on preparing design models, running clash detections, resolving coordination issues, and maintaining a well-organized Revit library for use by engineers and designers across a variety of building types, including residential communities, office buildings, educational and medical facilities, and parking structures. Responsibilities Prepare accurate and detailed building design models in Revit and BIM for structural and architectural projects. Run clash detections on building models to identify coordination issues between disciplines. Resolve model clashes and coordination issues in collaboration with engineers and designers. Set up building models and project templates to hand off to engineers for further design and analysis. Maintain and update the Revit library, including families, components, and standard details. Apply structural and architectural design concepts within the BIM environment as directed by project engineers. Support a variety of projects, including residential homes and communities, office buildings, educational facilities, medical facilities, and parking garages. Follow established BIM standards and workflows to ensure consistency and quality across all models. Collaborate with project team members to incorporate feedback and design changes into BIM models. Assist with general drafting and design tasks in Revit and AutoCAD as needed. Essential Skills 0-1+ years of experience with Revit and BIM tools in a structural or architectural building design environment. Basic knowledge of structural design or structural engineering principles as applied in building projects. Exposure to architectural design and building systems within a BIM workflow. Proficiency using Revit for creating and modifying building models. Ability to perform clash detection within BIM models and address identified issues. Strong attention to detail and accuracy when preparing and reviewing models. Ability to work in-office full-time and collaborate closely with engineers and designers. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience using AutoCAD for drafting and design support. Associates or bachelor's degree in a related field is welcome but not required. Interest in structural engineering, architectural design, or related disciplines. Willingness to learn and grow within a long-established, family-owned organization. Strong communication and teamwork skills to support multidisciplinary project teams. Work Environment This is a fully in-office position, working five days per week in a collaborative design environment. The team uses Revit, BIM tools, and AutoCAD to support a wide range of building projects, from residential communities to commercial, educational, medical, and parking structures.
