Job Description

Body Shop Technician Join the dynamic team at Transport Enterprise Leasing, LLC (TEL) , a thriving company with two decades of success. Position Purpose:
The Body Shop Technician is responsible for completing Body Shop repairs as outlined by TEL standards. This position will mentor and coach Body Shop Technicians in developing repair including Fiberglass/SMC, Plastics, Metal/Steel and Aluminum, Automotive paint finishing, Welding.
Position Responsibilities:
Review each work order, and estimator's notes to understand repairs needed prior to beginning work on the truck. Use frame and measuring equipment per vendor procedures, if applicable. Perform initial teardown of truck and prepare for repair work. Notifies management of any difficulties or problems that may prevent a quality job from being performed or cause a change in the promised time. Supplies and maintains personal tools and equipment to complete repairs. Maintains and wears all required safety and health personal protective equipment, including respirator, in the manner recommended by the equipment manufacturer. Checks parts against estimate and ensures proper parts are ordered and received. Perform all repair procedures according to factory specifications and company policy. Perform and sign-off on all quality check before sending truck to paint department. Re-assemble painted truck and painted parts. Operates all tools and equipment in a safe manner. Perform a final quality check and review of work order prior to sending the truck to the detail department. Work with apprentice or lesser skilled technicians in developing repair skills. Team Based Work System -assigned routinely as the Team Leader who is responsible for overseeing the operations, the planning/coordination of work and the quality of the body shop to ensuring that equipment repairs are carried out efficiently and to TEL standards. Continuously learn, share and implement improvements in all processes and responsibilities as needed to enhance effectiveness of providing world class service and support.
Knowledge Skills, and Abilities:
Excellent communication skills. Complete knowledge of the manufacturers and technical repair process. Able to apply, sand, finish Fiberglass/ SMC, Plastics, Metal/ Steel and Aluminum. Must have through knowledge of Automotive paint finishing. Preferred knowledge of welding Steel, Aluminum and Plastic. Able to fabricate parts/ brackets when needed. Complies with all laws and regulations pertaining to paint, thinners, and other hazardous materials. Reports any deviations to management. Understands, keeps abreast of and complies with federal, state and local regulations that affect body shop operations, such as hazardous waste disposal, OSHA Right-to-Know etc.
Education and Experience:
High School Diploma or equivalent. 5 years of related experience and/or training.
